Should cosplayers stick to characters their own body types? Pic relates for example is a good reason why cosplayers should be shamed for not cosplaying their body.
>>8997661
Did you pick the wrong picture?
>>8997667
Nope. Pic related is Mystique.
>>8997661
So basically no one should ever cosplay a comic book/anime characters because most have inhuman body proportions? Mystique has like a 20'' waist and a 45'' bust.
Okay anon.

What are your plans?
What are you cosplaying?
What are you looking forward to?
What are you dreading?
First time going. Are badges typically worth the $70?
>>8981684
No. Just like every convention, if you wait too long and purchase a month before the convention, the ticket price is higher.
>>8981668
>What are your plans?
Bringing two new people to the convention! Both have been dying to go to a convention, but none of their friends are interested, so I told them to come along with me! We are staying 20 minutes away right down the 101. Easy mode and free stay since its at a relatives. I even...

Depends on what you're trying to do but for me, not really. Even going as press it's still kind of meh for the things you need a badge for. I cover events but only because I have to earn the badge back.
>>8981708
Dealer's hall line only sucks on the first day because it's like the only thing for a lot of people to do that day. I'm not sure why people wait in line for it because it's not any more unique than another convention dealer...

Petticoat store link: shop60113340.taobao.com
I got petticoats that appeared to have more average poof based on the customer photos. The white one is very short and made of incredibly hard tulle. It's perfect for layering but will probably be pretty itchy against bare skin. It's hard to tell from the way they're hung, but the black one is A-line and the pink one is cupcake-shaped. Both have enough poof for a normal coordinate, and the pink one fits perfectly under...

Bronasaur is coming through! lol
Do you think the overall bar for men in cosplay is much lower than women simply because...
A: Men do not commonly have the skills that are commonly needed in cosplay (sewing, makeup, wig work)
B: The overall "consumers" of cosplay favor females ergo men and such men do not try as hard.
C: The quality is the same as women but due to lack of self promotion/community acknowledgement, they are ignored.
I don't know if it's that the bar is lower but it drives me nuts how many guys ruin a otherwise good cosplay by not having a wig.
Just because you and the character both have short brown hair doesn't mean you don't need a wig. You have to style it too!
>>8970801
Same with guys that refuse to put on make up. No one is saying you have to go the whole nine yards with falsies and contouring, just put on some goddamn concealer.
It's not that guys can't learn sewing/makeup/hair or even that they are at a disadvantage in that area. Most of the ladies I know that cosplay didn't do any of that stuff until they started cosplaying.
Any thoughts about the "Anti-Western Cosplay Movement"? I see this everywhere. Lets hear your thoughts. Image related.
I have no issue with people cosplaying characters of different nationalities, but only similar skin toned characters since a black person is going to look pretty odd in a rozen maiden cosplay. But shit like this makes my blood boil. Cosplay isn't an all asian exclusive club where they are allowed to shit on everyone of other nationalities in the hobby. If a western person did this with a superhero or comic book character there would be outrage. Fuck everyone who justifies this shit, it's blatant racism and jealously from plastic barbie doll asians that are jealous...

Who's gathering reference material for Persona 5 now that the release date (9/15) has been announced?
>>8994393
I really want to do anne or futaba. Futabas so cute and Anne is basically catwoman. Though, I don't want to cosplay them before the games out. One time I wanted to cosplay someone from fire emblem before I played it and ended up hating them when I actually played it. But I don't really hate anyone from persona 3 or 4?

I think this is really lovely and I dont even dress in classic
I dont normally make threads but I'm not really sure what thread I could post this in. So lets talk about shitty sellers and websites I guess.
Basically I found a really scummy general jfash site and it just rubs me the wrong way.
They sell a lot of taobao/aliexpress stuff and thats fine, there are tons of resellers in the world. But originally I found them since a popular artist has a design of hers there. They worked together and either they had the shirts printed by them or outsourced. Anyways I feel like this would confuse people since "oh wow they...

Gulls, do you have a dedicated room or space where you prefer to work on your cosplay? Or plans to create one?
I'm moving and getting a bigger room (11' x 15') and wanted to section a corner into a cute cosplay workshop area. I never really had space for one before, and I'm sick of having to make room for my sewing machine whenever I want to make something. Any ideas on how to make a cute and effective space?
>>8991015
put stuff up on the walls so it's not taking up table space. my favorite thing in my workspace are these ikea bathroom hooks I painted white and use for scissors. always a pair within reach but keeps them from getting buried in fabric / knocked on the floor / lost
>>8991015
I'm working on setting one up, I've got a tiny alcove off of my room between my room and the stairs where I'm going to put my great grandmothers sewing desk I recently inherited. I'm going to have more space when I move out but till then I'm happy to have just any place to put my crafts.
Any one got inspo on tiny sewing spaces btw? Trying to figure out how best to organize mine and save on room.
I keep all my stuff in a closet, and my sewing machine on an old sewing machine (the kind that "tuck" into table) with a chair in an open space, I use the old sewing machine's table's drawers to keep chalks, pins, measuring tapes, ect. The hard thing I find is finding somewhere to spread out fabric.
Some cute boxes from the dollar store hold bias tapes/zippers/ect ect that I keep on the top shelf, thread hanging on the inside door, hangers hold current projects. I have a closet organizer thing (the hanging ones) that I use the shelves to store fabrics and such for current projects, and keep patterns in the "drawer" part. Floor has two of those cheap walmart drawers with the 3 sections that I keep fabric scraps in, and there's a small open space left that I put rolls of vinyl and interfacing. I keep a small cup with my scissors in it next to my sewing machine as well. Floor length mirror moves around but I usually put it in front of the closet door if I have everything out I need, and dress form usually stands next to the sewing machine.
Pic isn't my space, but still cute.
Does anyone have links to any cute suitcases/overnight bags ect?
Preferably in a bunch of sizes and won't bankrupt a gull
I also need a new suitcase, as my old pink one broke in baggage claim.
I need something relatively sturdy to withstand travel. Any suggestions? I was looking at some Betsey Johnson ones but wasn't totally feeling it.
>the feeling of regret that you didn't pick up an axes femme luggage in Japan
That feel when you always dreamed of travelling elegantly like Maetel, but have to go with a huge backpack.
Is it acceptable to cosplay as a character you created, be it an OC from an original work or something you made up from a fandom? Do people even care? Have you done it before?
It's okay, but don't expect anyone to give a fuck who you are.
>>8997610
I think so- however, I would personally never wear an OC cosplay to a convention. I think they're best saved for photoshoots.
And obviously you have to be prepared for nobody to care about all the work you put into it unless you're already cos famous or something.
(Pic related, Ely cosplays's OC)
We've had OC cosplay threads in the past, but they're generally not too popular.
It's not a yes or no thing, it depends on the design and presentation.
Nicely designed OCs are generally well received, just wearing a generic uniform (like people do with Shitgeki no Kyojin OCs) or sparkleweeb OCs are generally laughed at. Throwing on plainclothes and claiming to be an OC is also pretty lame.

With anime conventions, which non anime fandom you like the most and the least? From video games, comics, movies to bloody hell kpop. What fits the best with anime cons and which ones needs to get their own con?
Star Trek and Star Wars cosplays always seem super out of place at anime cons. Also, if deadpool cosplayers would stay out of anime conventions, I'd be happy.
>>8994085
Star Wars/Trek fans are usually way more chill than other non-anime fandoms though. Give me 100 Kylo, Reys and Mauls over Homestucks any day
whatever flavor-of-the-month, easily-accessible, quirky thing that's trending among awkward autists with no boundaries.
homestuck, steven universe, and now undertale. the big In Thing that isn't anime but which weebs obsess over collectively.
