Are there any rumors on when NYCC tickets might go on sale? While I appreciate the fan verification thing, I think the two day warning is a bit ridiculous and short. It would have been better if it was at least a week.
Also, why do they go on sale later every year?
Reed Pop is doing more and more cons every year, so that why its getting later and later. 2 days is nothing considering last year there was a 23 hour notice for the physical tickets ion sale at Midtown Comics. Also less notice gives scalpers less time to organize.

I keep debating which wig I should get for my Umi cosplay. Does anyone have a recommendation. I'm trying to go for darker blue. I know people have mixed feelings about the blue and black wigs, so I was thinking of a very dark blue. I just don't want to get a crap quality wig, especially since I have to pin a hat to it when doing pic related.

To be honest, part of me wants to stop cosplaying.
Not only am I in my mid 20s, but I'm just sick of the growing reputation that cosplayers are all whores and sluts. That we're easy.
It seems in a growing number of men (and even non-cosplaying womens minds) we're basically just a kind of "porn girl".
My male friend's girlfriend wants him to stop hanging out with me for this reason. She claims we're too touchy feely with each other and that I'm too flirtatious. We did a cosplay together and stayed in the same hotel...

I'm sort of in the same boat but for the opposite reason. On your point, the reason why men started thinking this way is because modern and younger female cosplayers have presented themselves as such. The hobby has changed drastically in the last 6 years or so thanks to the likes of Nigri and the other attention whores. Girls think they can get attention by dressing in skimpy clothing and all the neckbeards flock to them. You rarely become "cosfaumous" anymore by being good at your craft. I still do...

I do it because I love it and I try my best to ignore that part of it. It's difficult, don't get me wrong. There's always pressure to wear more revealing cosplays to get more attention but so long as you focus on the craft/creative aspect of it,you should be okay. I don't cosplay competitively and I don't plan to so I think I do manage to avoid a lot of that negativity. People have a perception of cosplayers anyway, that we're all weirdos and creeps, so I take it with a grain of salt....

We've built a Bluetooth boombox for DragonCon that's going to be painted like bricks from Mario. I'm a bit stumped on the strap. Had planned to single strand braid a green rope and attach some artificial plant leaves along it with a piranha plant mouth at one end made from some leftover birch plywood used in the box. I'm not too sure it'll come out quite as I expect. Any suggestions? The box is 1'x1'x3' and weighs right at 35 pounds with the battery inside.
So me and a group of friends are planing a group cosplay at this upcoming con and we decided to go as the many versions of Paul Rudd. Now I was given the task of being celery man and I have no clue at all where to get a suit like this. Any idea on where I could find one.

I got hit with a 24 euro customs fee for a package worth 27 euro. That 17,50 "handling fee" is a fucking joke. I had to fill the customs declaration myself, so the only work they did was put the number in a calculator and print the bill. It also makes it pointless to pay for faster shipping, because it got held up in customs for 3 days.

Nothing wrong with these categories but when you go to a lot of conventions it feels like the topics just blend together. "How to sew, homestuck QA, diversity in cosplay etc."
Can we have a thread where we talk about panels that use a different format from the typical categories or at least talk about...

The second two are FINE the first one is the WORST if you're not a part of the panel it's SUPER FUCKING BORING. What I'd like to see is more entertainment-based panels. Like things meant to entertain rather than just inform
I offered to bring my two poles to a con once for a 'grab a photo and try some fun spins/silly moves' style panel but I was refused because it wasn't Japan or Anime related.
I agree anon that the pool of material is stagnating (especially since it's not like you can build on previous panels as there's no guaranteed attendance) but it can be hard to think outside the box when you have to stay on theme.

I've learned that dance and draw workshops are really entertaining as you're actually doing something.
What I've noticed is that Game Shows end up being the most entertaining but they're probably the rarest type of panel
Seeing pic related video suggested on the cringe thread really made me remember my love for bad love live cosplay. ESPECIALLY the dancing videos, those are a gold mine.

I miss kooter drama,PT drama and the tripfags it was really fucking annoying sometimes (when there was too many threads clogging the board) but also so so entertaining at times . Lolita evolved,there was so much to talk about besides new releases,that whole "spirit of lolita" there was back then is dead now. Same for cosplay. There was a special mindset that made it so exciting to discuss.
I feel bored nowadays. Lolita is boring,cosplay...

am I the only one that thinks that old /cgl/ was never good? threads would get derailed easily, the average seagull was more concerned with drama than actual cosplay and lolita. 5 PT threads, 3 kooter threads, 10 vendetta threads and maybe 3 threads actually discussing Lolita and cosplay.
Not to mention that the drama was so bad it bred a terrible hivemind where it was cool to doxx people (as long as you were anon) and harrass others. even lolcow isn't as bad as old cgl and that's...
