Thread 141. A note about the archive, I'm waiting for the archive website I use to actually work so I can get the images

Thread 140: >>2579691
This issue has been brought up before, so I know I'm gana catch a lot of flak for this, but I feel it has to be said again.
Posters need to focus on quality over quantity, every other K-on thread has figured this out already. I understand Yui threads tend to get a much lower poster to image ratio to begin with(last thread had 9 unique posters for all 150images), but you can't go dumping 20+ images in one go when only three or four are even worth saving. If you aren't sure if it's quality, compare it to any official artwork and see how it stacks up. I'm not asking for perfection by any means. Hopefully this makes since, and that you all understand I make this post out of love, not hate.

I'm a bit torn on this matter. I've got the impression it's the same person doing those images dumps, based on the type and amount of images posted each time. On one hand I think it's really cool that someone's enthusiastic and sharing. The images are always new, so occasionally I find something cute I hadn't seen before. However, yes, the quality is all over the place, and sadly the nicer images get drenched away by the more mediocre ones, sadly hollowing out the good stuff, making it more forgettable.
It's like the new Dream Theater album! It's different from the rest, yes, and it has some really great parts, but it gets overshadowed and hollowed out by two hours of ballads which fail to make much of an impression, after you're done listening. If it was half the length, I think my overall impression would be better! Same thing here - quality over quantity - it's what Yui would want!

/c/asual here, I agree with this. Yui threads are somewhat hard to follow when they move so quickly, and you can't remember what you've already seen cause the quality was potato enough that it didn't make any memorable impression.
The enthusiasm is admirable, but I'd rather have slow dumps of good looking stuff than massive dumps of your average quality fan art.
But I'm a /c/asual so feel free to disregard.
Just bought this. Should I name it Geetah or Yui? Im torn.

Both names are great, anon. Choose wisely.

I'd go with Yui. After all, who wouldn't want to play with Yui... uh... play music, I mean...
>>2584879
Nice! I call mine Yui because, primarily, that's closer to heart for me and, secondarily, I figured that Giita sounds too much like guitar in English. But on the other hand, your guitar pretty much looks like Giita, which mine doesn't, so that's something to consider too.

>That cute Yui
Everytime I see her my heart goes doki doki
Too close for comfort. Live thread!

CORE must be one of my favourite artists who regularly draws Yui!

Why the long face, honey?

quality is subjective, post anything and everything because it might perfectly match the taste of someone else

I hate to get like this on /c/, so I apologize ahead of time. But if you love something, I feel, you must strive be it's strongest critic.
No, quality is not always subjective, it's just a buzz word used people people call out bad attempts at "art". The Mona Lisa objectively better than a dog turd smeared on a dinner plate. Because even if you don't necessarily like it, you can tell when something is more refined and complete. People have just convinced themselves to accept mediocrity, that is why "modern art" is so bad.
Regardless of quality though, there needs to be less posted a day, it's one anon doing it as far as I can tell. I'm not trying to discourage someone share images, but I have no want to contribute to a thread that caps in a week because someone dumps 20-25 images a day. If less were posted daily, maybe the quality issue wouldn't be such a deal, and wouldn't drown out quality images.
>TL;DR: If lots of people post 1 image a day, it's better than 1 person posting 25 images a day. It makes a healthier posting eco-system and adds more variety to a thread.

I agree with >>2589778 on every point.
No single one of us owns the thread and can dictate over it, but I hope that by sharing our views we can agree on some points that will make the overall atmosphere more enjoyable for everyone.
I really enjoy these threads; the mix of cute Yui and casual conversation blends really well together. The recent bursts of high throughput posting that are in focus here don't really do it for me, however; I really think that being more selective with what's posted would make for a better experience - there have been several analogies posted already, but basically it just gets unnecessarily diluted in quality. I don't insist that images need to fulfill some criteria to be posted, per se - in fact I encourage people to contribute whatever they have so more people can participate. But in this specific instance, I'd be much more happy if they selected their favourites from the batch of pictures they're dumping, and space it out more. Say, posting five instead of 30 images would make those five images stand out more, and make threads last longer. That's been how I've done things, myself, making an effort to handpick new images to post.

Oh yeah! Did you decide on a name yet?

On a completely different note, could you make it a Valentine's edition for the next thread, please Tenshiro?
