Any financial analysts on /biz/ want to share what it's like? It sounds like a decent job, but I hear that a good portion of them work very long hours, and honestly if that's the case, I'd rather work in a less well-paying career like market research if it means a 40ish hour work week. Anyone in the field and working a normal week? Working over? What are other similar jobs that maybe pay less but have more standard schedules?

Bump

Come on you fags. As much as you talk shit about different jobs, none of you actually work in a this field?
bump, im going to finance degree next year with this same path in mind, i wanna know if im not fucking up
Why shouldn't I dump all of my savings into a Roth IRA with Vanguard for my primary retirement?
Because you still need to figure out what funds to invest in with Vanguard
Because having all your money with one investment company is fucking retarded.
>See: Bernie Madoff
>>923122
I was being absurd. My question is just about Vanguard and if it is a reliable company ? I've heard good things but I would love to hear from someone who uses them for long term savings/retirement.
Silly question: Do Big 4 accountants or rather auditors not have a short term edge they could use to their advantage as they prepare financial statements?
Could you not use the information you see on various companies to take various derivative positions before it becomes public?
Example could you not take out futures contracts on a stock you see possibly outperforming previous year earnings and analyst projections?
Or short a company that isn't going to perform well based on the information you and your collegues are working with?
Pic related = cool watch
>>924524
Yeah, big 4 firms totally allow you to invest in the companies they audit. Absolutely no rules about that. Nope. None at all.

Ethics are for faggots man. How would they even find out?

Sounds fool proof tbh
Extra points if you include unsolved problems in economics, accounting or marketing.

Why aren't you selling marketing services to high average sale businesses?
Recently closed a 17k/month (USD) deal with an office furniture manufacturer in less than 2 days with only email, and phone.
1 year contract, I don't even live in the US.
There is limitless opportunity out there guys, just learn some social skills and learn how to sell.
more detail. your post is vague. why would they trust you?
Yes more details
What kinda marketing services are we talking about?
>>910160
>>910162
Basically setting up a sales funnel (email) to engage prospects using the existing traffic on the business's site.
The key is to find an industry with high average sales. IE HVAC >avg sale ranges from $6k-$12kusd

So, you're an unemployed adult male living with your family. You're in your 20's or early 30's and you've either never held a job for any significant amount of time, or have a spotty work history consisting of low-paying menial jobs. You didn't complete a college degree, and probably dropped out of high school. You've fucked yourself when all of your peers who weren't losers completed their degrees and started their careers. They're building their lives while you spend your time masturbating to cartoons and disappointing your parents....

No one is this pathetic tho.
Surely people who didn't go to college or work at least built up a valuable skillset... r-right... right?
My post was eaten and I'm too lazy to retype.

Seriously what the actual fuck. I'm completely baffled. I've literally gone through all the interview mistakes I've found online and I don't think I made any of them for my last interview.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying I'm perfect, but fuck I thought I fucking nailed it. God damn.
Is is possible people just dislike you for literally no reason?
Hey, Are you. Dressing the part?

Yes.
Blazer, button up, slacks, tie, dress shoes. The whole shabang.
How much would you guys pay for an app that gets you laid? Not like Tinder, but an app that tells you exactly what to say to a girl from hello to sex, in any setting (club, street, gym).
Idiots in bars pay $10+ to buy a drink for a girl that isn't even into them and won't reciprocate the attention.
How much would an app that does what I said would be worth for you realistically??
>>912618
You can't program non-autism into an app
>>912623
what if you can? seduction is a defined process (open, time constraint, attract, etc) so having things to say in a linear fashion in your app could help.
>>912618
Even if it takes off, it will be stunted because girls will pick up (pun intended) on it and think that anybody that uses those lines is a loser and faggy
Bit of a paradox
There was this one interview I went in for. I was interviewed first by phone. The guy was friendly and asked me how I would approach certain problems (i.e how would you begin to trouble shoot a blue screen, etc). He was impressed by my answer. However, when I showed up for the interview (it was a different person). I walk in, close the door behind me. Smile and reach out my hand for a handshake. The guy just sits there looking at his computer screen. I withdraw my hand about 15-20 seconds later without a response. Then out of the blue, says something along the lines of "soo......

Should I go to UTSC, UTM, Ryerson or York for compsci?
>>907582
Well, I personally looked into Comp Sci at UofT, and UW, but from those 4 options I would personally select Comp Sci at Ryerson, solely because of the profs and the fact that work is easy to come by, as well as networks are easily established in Downtown Toronto.
But if you're interested in the best education quality, then definitely Comp Sci at York University's Lassonde School of Enginering. Their $100,000,000 new enginering building is great and puts York back in the competition for the best...

UW wouldn't take me unfortunately :(
I was mainly considering UTSC/UTM or Ryerson though. I've heard those UofT campuses don't really measure up to St. George but I figured it still carries the reputation of the UofT name anyway. What you learn should be the same anyways, shouldn't it?
Ryerson seems OK but definitely not top-tier by any means.
Isn't York one of the shittiest schools in a terrible area in all of Canada? I have only heard terrible things about it tbh.

It would be wise to keep in mind that this life shit is about the journey. It's not about the destination and all of the goodies you can get out by the end of it.
I don't know about all of you, but unless you have a death wish and don't respect yourself, looking back on your life wondering what in the hell you actually did with it at all sounds depressing and I don't want to end up like that fool.

My goal is to work remotely for a mid sized startup / large software company while living in a small town where everyone knows each other and nature is at my door. Save up a ton due to low CoL then retire by 45 and work as a schoolteacher or open a bar.
I'm sure I'll be able to become one of the people working 3-4 hrs a week, just checking up on my businesses/investments, and driving a $100k german coupe. I think I could achieve much more but being realistic, I'll probably grow complacent once I'm comfortable.
