Don't forget: Moody's and S&P had to RATE the securities as "AAA". Their reputations are forever besmirched and it comes up A LOT when ratings discussions are held.

Has anyone here actually used something they learned on /biz/ to make money in the real world?
There was an eBay thread on /biz/ a while back giving great advice. I went on online classifieds and found a few small items I've flipped on eBay for easy money. I've made about $950 total profit doing this the past 3 months, *very* part time, maybe 3-4 hours per week.
Has anyone else made actual money off of threads they read on /biz/ ? If so, what was the advice and did you make enough $$ to make it worth it?
>>967672
I lost $50 buying PND.
And I probably lost $10 000's in opportunity cost.
>>967672
Due to biz I did a bit of research and now have $15k in well diversified exchange traded funds. It is most likely I will make a good return on these in the next 10-20 years

>dat $14.07/ozt

Because predicted inflation from QE hasn't materialized and there are productive asset alternatives. There's no investment demand for silver.

Ride a bicycle somewhere that volunteer work is done and ask for a volunteer job. You won't make any money but you will gain skills that are far FAR more valuable than flipping burgers. You will also make contacts with people who can give you real employment. Go every day and volunteer if you can manage. There won't be any expectations of competency or particular skills that can't be shown to you in under five minutes.

You guessed right, I don't think I can do such thing.
I think I'm going to try to overcome my fear and kill myself instead. I really don't see myself getting up everyday and doing something I don't like for the rest of my life.
I actually worked one day in my life, at a supermarket. It was awful. I left the first day...
Is there any type of profit made from buying very small amounts of land? Like a sq foot or something. In up and coming neighborhoods or rural lands.
No one will sell you a square foot of land.
look up ransom strips
>>967441
you can buy a sq foot plot of land in Ireland and Scotland for like $20. they don't allow you to build anything on it even if you buy like 100 of them (dont think they let 1 person buy 100 anyway)
With more and more merchants abandoning Bitcoin...what went wrong?
>the next big thing guys! Just give us real money and we'll sell you bitcoin!
>bitcoin will be accepted everywhere in time
>buy early and the value will increase significantly!
Nothing went wrong, solid progress is being made. Rome wasn't built in one day. Go study.
The problem with bitcoin for me is that it's just a technology, and numerous other coins are in the market. So it just ends up being a contest on how hard someone can shill for their particular coin.
It's literally a meme currency. Remember doge coins?
Bitcoin is the first of course, but that doesn't mean it will be the last one standing at the end of the day.
And lastly, the price is too volatile to actually be utilized as a currency.
That being said, it's a great high risk investment if you get in at the right time, and get out...

I'm not saying Bitcoin is going to the moon but these kind of threads remind me of people who first criticised revolutionary technology like the home computer or the internet ,it's still early days and we don't know which way the wind will blow.
You're no better than Bitcoin shills because you have no valuable insight or knowledge to share with us.

Hi biz,
Sorry if this is a common question here. I'm making a video game and it's maybe a third done. I need money to finish it, but not all that much, really. So I've been looking at the possibility of a Kickstarter campaign. At first glance, it seems almost too good to be true... Show your game to the world and watch everyone line up to give you their money. But really looking at their stats and what others have said about the experience raises a few red flags.
First off, the fact that these giant studios use it is discouraging. A project like...

Knowing that it's Sony, they probably needed the $6,000,000 because their company is in shambles right now. This isn't my area of knowledge, but why not just try Steam Greenlight?
Nice quints by the way.
KS are still good, assuming you have some type of fanbase. Like, do you have a blog where youre posting updates and people actually want to see this game get done? Would people want this game to get done so badly that theyd share it with their friends and suggest they donate too etc?
You cant just start up a KS without any prior fanbase and hope people will take a look at it and donate.
Any good /biz/ movies/documentaries?

So basically whenever people here seem to talk about wanting to work in finance, they always just seem to refer to fields such as investment banking, trading, or private equity, etc.
But obviously there are a whole other bunch of things you can do, like work as a treasury analyst, work in the financial analysis and planning team, or even move into corporate development or investor relations at large public companies.
Does anyone have experience or know much about working these kind of jobs? And general "alternative careers in finance" discussion.

its easy money, banks help schools, schools send kids to banks, banks can plot evil and kids get paid

this is more of an academic thing which is the opposite from ^^ with genuine interest in money, finance, economics etc....
