Can a stock market bull please explain themselves?
Let's take a stock like Amazon. What is it trading at? 80x earnings? Kek, it has to grow 80x just to break even with its valuation.
No one is it business to break even. To buy it you must unironically believe it's going to grow 160x.
A-are you on acid?
Yeah, yeah, "markets go up in down, but in the end they always go up a little bit"
Just because you repeat that over and over doesn't make it true. Look at a 30 year Japanese chart. STOCKS WILL NEVER MAKE A NEW HIGH...

Investors buy a stock for INVESTING... That means sometime in the future... So the current price of a stock's value has future expectations factored in

So, Kickstarter is pretty much dead... Yeah, there are still a lot of projects there, but the idea of Kickstarter is dead. They've dropped the approval process and are just allowing anything to be posted, so it's kind of memed out at this point. Sony does a Kickstarter for Shenmue 3 and raises six million dollars and that's pretty much the last nail in the coffin for the chances of some little independent project that's actually interesting and original raising $50K.
Coincidentally, here is another thing that is dead -- the music industry. Now, here...

Youve got some good ideas here. Now whats stopping you?
>>983264
Good question, I kind of thought the same thing as I was typing it. I guess the fact that I'm slaving away on a game project. I was planning to take it to Kickstarter in a couple of months, but everything I see tells me that KS is a lost cause.
So I am going to go ahead and steal this idea. Thanks Anon!
Bitcoin: The law of the handicap of a head start
You can compare it to Altavista just waiting to be forgotten and taken over by a Google.
Gulden will be the digital currency of the world and everybody will forget Bitcoin.
What kind of development has Bitcoin had last year?
Nothing absolutely nothing and Gulden just keeps developing.
Just look at Gulden their timeline and see the progress: https://timeline.gulden.com/
Now they have a service called Nocks where you are able to pay with Gulden everywhere they accept Bitcoin.

And its super cheap right now! You can get 250,000 two hundred and fifty thousand gulden for the low low price of 1 bitcoin!
Remind us again, how many of these guldencoins will eventually exist?

Have you ever felt the euphoria of spending two hundred and fifty thousand of something?
German guy here about to graduate in finance.
I would like to move to the US for work, how are my chances? Should i stick to german firms or would US firms hire a foreigner like me? Or would they rather not because of visa trouble and so on?
Also, any tips on 'american' style CV? any templates? Thanks
>>981377
You might as well apply, you need them to accept the work visa in the first place before you can even move here.

You're asking for so little, your post looks like begging instead of asking for a loan.
Post how your family held you back from success.
Mine:
>Never taught me ANYTHING about personal finance/investing/markets, etc
>Said meme shit like "You need to be a genius with a million dollars to invest!" when I told them what I learned about investing and tried to talk to them about it

What is the one line that someone says that you know you shouldn't take financial advice from them, that you just stop listening altogether.
My most recent one: "Invest in gold or other metals."
" i have a 401k"
"play the credit card game"
"debt is good"
"Getting married is bad for you financially"
"Owning a house is bad"
>>986999
not american, but what's wrong with 401ks?
as far as I can tell you can save yourself the income tax as long as you put your cash into a managed fund or something. since you should put your money into an index fund anyways, why not save taxes while doing it?

How's that working for you?
If you can't afford to save what you're about to buy right now, then you shouldn't be buying it.
Save an entire month's paycheck so you are a month ahead, and then budget with what you made last month. No longer living paycheck to paycheck.
Save a few month's of living expenses in case you get fired or laid off. Put that money in a Money Market account or a short term bond/CD until you need it.
Don't get loans for cars or trucks ever. You don't need a brand new car you consumer kek.
Don't loan money to friends...

Can we get a /biz/ness clothes thread going?
I haven't heard much talk lately about what to wear to interviews, haircuts, etc.
Can we discuss do's and dont's of suits? Here's what I've been wearing lately by I haven't been having much luck with interviews, hopefully it gets a little better as I have a few more coming up this week.
Pic related, it's my business suit.

7/10 out fit, but you'd bump it up to 9/10 with some classy head gear.
Remember; bigger tie = bigger penis and classier head gear = bigger brain. Employers know this.

I feel like you're making a joke about my height.
Yeah I'm 6'5... How else am I suppose to live my life? There wasn't much of a selection for big & tall.
Can you give me some legitimate criticism please?

What do rich people spend money on?
I'm a married engineer just starting out at ~50k/yr; my wife is in med school.
We're on the road to being wealthy, but we're already living very comfortably on this 4k/month.

Middle class goes into debt for things rich people pay in cash for. Big houses, fancy cars, expensive clothes, etc.
I worked for a guy that makes $1.5M a year when I was younger and he's become a mentor to me. He still drives a 10 year old truck, lives in a house he bought in the 90s, and wears Target brand clothes.
He told me to save what I spend. If you are going to pay $300 for that shotgun or whatever, then save $300 as well. If you can't afford to save it, then you shouldn't be buying it.
Did you make this thread just to brag? You have so much money and no idea to spend it? I make 20k a year. I wish I had your problem. I'm not gonna flame you for your success because you've earned everything you have but seriously what is the point of this thread?

Maybe for a mcdonalds worker but not for anyone actually educated.
Anyone here in management consulting? Whether strategy or operations, whether Big 3, Big 4 or boutique. Share your stories.
I was going to start a thread on consulting.
What is consulting?
Can anyone with a STEM or business degree and some internships or undergrad research become a consultant?
For instance are there chemistry/chemical engineering consultants or (insert random field here) consultants?
Or is it only for MBAs?
Is it hard to get an entry-level job? Or is it easy because it requires a lot of time and travel?
This sounds like a field for me since I like travel and probably won't have a family soon. I want to study STEM (statistics specifically,...

I am a consultant at accenture. It is really easy.
You will never use your background skills and they only take from accredited programs because 1) they can and 2) no one will hire them if you went to midwestern tech college of sciences and managing a team.
You can become a consultant if you prove to a recruiter you are smart.
I was lucky, went to the right school and wore the right suit during a career fair. People I work with are Uchicago...

I got Robinhood recently. Where souks I go to learn more about trading stocks. Right now I have a trust fund in Primerica. For the past 8 years. Is over $9k now
>>985700
>8 years, 9k.
Nice, impressive. Time to start trading kid.
When a stock opens it always has a daily high and a daily low.
Buy on the low, sell on the high and no matter the stock you will make money .
Day traders contribute nothing to the betterment of society or to making life easier. Janitors make more of a contribution to society.
>Janitors make more of a contribution to society.
Are you sure about that?
