Tell me /biz/, why are you not getting into the emoji business?
because i already have a job in a business im actually interested in. and im not a celebrity(or know any celebs) so i dont have any marketing power.
How do you even make emojis? I googled it and everything involved using an app, which you probably can't use to make emojis and then sell.
>implying emojis are even real
>implying milliseconds are even real
trade bitcoin bro
Why aren't you taking ritalin yet ? My concentration levels skyrocketed since I took it. I managed to read 4 economic books in 1 week and completely absorb the information. I managed to turn $12k into $2.5 million in 10 days thanks to ritalin. Now I know what to do and how to do it.
> be me
> learn basic finance fundamentals on ritalin
> got hedge fund job in week
>>1008034
Because ritalin shot my parents in an alleyway after we saw a play. Now I dress up like a soccer mom and fight ritalin during the day.
>>1008034
>I managed to turn $12k into $2.5 million in 10 days thanks to ritalin
That's it? I wrote 3 highly cited papers on ritalin within 4 days.
>you missed out on the 2009-2014 ultra bull market
Well, just keep crying and don't learn any lessons. Don't be waiting around with some cash reserves to pick up bargains the next time the markets tank. Stay poor.
>tfw you never shorted triple leveraged reits right before the crash
>>1012009
I invested last week in the S&P 500, hopefully it doesn't crash, but even if it does I'm in for the long haul so whatever
Can someone explain this shit? What do you think happened? They decided to hire a woman, and that woman only hired women who hired only women?
>>1011924
gender discrimination
the cuckening
If you get enough women under you, it's only a matter of time until one of them will literally be under you.
In bed.
Probably Katriona Feinstein.
That whore.
Serious question. I know subjects like English and History are considered useless, but what are your guys' real thoughts on Liberal Arts Colleges as a whole? They seem so comfy and welcoming but get a lot of hate.
>>1011149
The colleges themselves arent all that bad sometimes, see Harvey Mudd
They get hate because most of their students pursue useless degrees and/or bitch and piss over trivial, oftentimes idiotic things. Just look at Oberlin
>>1011149
>They seem so comfy and welcoming
It just so happens that those two qualities are perhaps the most irrelevant qualities that one could look for in higher education. College is not "a thing you do for 4 years after high school". If you treat it like one you're going to end up a poorfag working for minimum wage at Wal-Mart wondering why your graduate degree in Chicano Studies isn't getting you 6-figure salaries.
Don't study what you love and find a job...

You get no bang for your buck, some liberal arts colleges are like $50k/year. You get what you put into college, but liberal arts colleges simply have fewer major offerings that make serious cash.
How much further can the Canadian dollar drop?
Is it a good idea to be buying US stocks and selling when the CAD bottoms out? What are the signs that it will continue to fall as opposed to stabilize?
well /lgbt/?
>Is it a good idea to be buying US stocks and selling when the CAD bottoms out?
heres a good idea for you, buy us stocks and sell cad. when cad bottoms out you buy cad. of course youre the one implying you can tell when something is bottomed out or not so ill leave that to you.
>>1010710
>heres a good idea for you, buy us stocks and sell cad. when cad bottoms out you buy cad
Of course, that is the plan. I just can't decide whether signs are strong that CAD will continue to fall or not. I'm about 50/50 on it... Seems like it could certainly continue to fall but on the other hand historically there isn't all that much for it to fall down to.
Hey /biz/
I came into some money, $500k to be precise. I need some advice on whether I should invest it in stocks or purchase a home. The average price of a house in my city is around $450k. If I did purchase a house I would basically be left with no cash when you take out stamp duty.
What should I do?
>>1010399
Dont buy the house outright.
>>1010399
Move to where the houses aren't insanely expensive! Then get a $100k house in cash and put the rest into a portfolio of rental properties. Stocks and real estate sales go up and down, but you can always get tenants if you price the rent right.
Note: Make the rent just a bit on the higher side so you don't draw as many druggies and deadbeats.
Depends on you. Personal homes usually net 3% or less during the living cycle, and huge transfer and transaction costs.
Stocks and Rentals you should be aiming for 12% a year. Very difficult right now.
You're completely discounting business. With a warchest like that. You've got access to roughly 2.5 Million in Small business Association funding, for existing businesses.
a business like that should throw off 30k per month with a few 100k months.
Hey /biz/
The older I get, the more I realize it's all about the energy.
I'd be curious to know what's your precepts/rules/tips to run at high energy. I'd like to stay away from drugs as much as possible.
I already eat a shit ton of fruits and vegetables. I'm curious about supplements, ginger, etc
Also, techniques to get better sleep etc welcome (tips to wake up early most welcome as well).
I believe the higher your energy, the closer you are to success.
Check your blood for any chemical imbalances and correct them
Don't be afraid to sleep around
Take colder showers
Eat lots of organic red meat
The last three are meant to raise your testosterone, which is a big part of what gives you energy
>>1010376
Energy isn't needed to be successful or live a happy life. The ability to focus on what needs to get done is much more important, as you'll get 5x more work done in the same time when you're focused as opposed to when you're not.
Anyway, if you want to have more energy/feel better you should exercise at least every second day. A mix of cardio + weight training is best for general health. Also try not to depend on caffeine/other supplements/drugs at all. They can be used in specific situations...

I associate with focus with energy as well.
But you're right focus is essential, combined with decent energy.

Thoughts on this /biz?
Now might be a good time to buy Alibaba stock, especially since they've pushed out Sesame Credit. I'd be willing to bet that they'll be contracting in Zimbabwe soon.
>>1010337
Sounds interesting. I don't know much about Alibaba but I get the impression they have a unique supply chain?
>>1010336
A country run by idiots.
How long will it take for bitcoin to crash again?
>>1007029
Maybe a year or two, it won't get higher then a $1000. I can almost guarantee you this.
Bitcoin is always crashing.
No one pays attention because muh digital currency.

Capitalism tribute thread
Post how capitalism has made your life great.
>Im using an Iphone while drinking coffee while my home increases in value.
Reddit and Bernie fags need not apply
Hear, hear, thank God for capitalism.
Without it, we wouldn't have things like
1) technology
2) coffee beans
3) shelter
4) imageboards
I get to use a computer that I don't have to share with anyone else and also cost a relatively small portion of my disposable income to purchase.
I make enough to be able to invest in the stockmarket as well... What else... Well everything really I attribute to capitalism. Decent house, decent and affordable clothes and other things. Life is great.
Welfare, food stamps, subsidized federal student loans, and state government grants allowed me to graduate college and start my own business.
So right now I work for a startup and have worked in many different departments. I didn't finish college because I interned with them and they offered me full-time opportunity. I want my career to develop into Business Analysis but do I need a degree for that? What are some skills I need (like SQL, Excel, ect) and If I do need a degree what kind? I was also thinking of getting my CCENT and going into IT. Is there a way I can marry my IT interest with my goal of becoming a BA?
I'm a BA :3
Soon-to-be-former management consultant here.
At least get a bachelor's to prove you have a pulse. Business, or STEM would be ideal.
Aside from that SQL, Tableau, MS office especially Excel and Access. You might want to get familiar with big data environments (e.g. Hadoop, Cassandra, Hbase) as well since data volume is exploding, although right now that's more the domain of data scientists.
>>1011355
Wow. You sure were helpful to everyone. Someone should mint you a medal.
>/biz/, the movie character
Nice meme I saw that movie too.
>>1011171
That movie was fucking great.
>>1011171
That was an amazing movie. And yes, I think the randfags here fit that character quite well.
Is 53,000 a year a good salary? I merely want an 2 bedroom apartment in nyc
You can afford a quarter of that apartment.
>>1010168
Depends. I make $51,000 in Texas and it feels pretty decent. I'd obviously love to make more but I'm far from impoverished or living paycheck to paycheck or something. I can pay my bills and afford other miscellaneous expenses while still being able to put back and save/invest.
In New York though, this is probably poverty tier or something.
>>1010171
funny cuz its true
I own a mattress store. I use bookoo.com, facebook, craigslist, and offerup to sell. Doesn't anyone have any suggestions on other websites I could be using other than the obvious ebay.
dating websites. a lot of people like to use a matress when they fuck.
your welcome
You at a college town?
>>1010178
No I'm actually in an amazing spot. It's in between two of the biggest suburbs in illinois. There are a ton of higher end mattress retailers in the area.. I have better prices though
