I just started a real estate buisness. I own 2 properties outright as well as my own home. I make about $1000 a month off of the rentals. I make about $3750 a month from my job. I only have 12K in debt and about 75K in equity. I live in a Detroit esque mid sized city in the midwest where you can buy houses for 10-15K. They come with the windows boarded up and I went to school for home inspection so I don't get any that have major problems. I was wondering where could I get financing from? Sounds like you are actually doing good. My advise (which is simply an opinion), live frugally for 2-5 years, only buying essential clothes, food, and bills with your new income.

I've been living frugally since I was homeless back in 09. I buy all my clothes/furniture/cars used, grow and can my own food, and I own all my own tools for every project from hanging drywall and framing to installing flooring (I bought all the tools from a tool pawn shop in town). I think you can get a 60month loan @7.xx-8.xx% through lending club. Good credit, strong assets, track record of doing this should qualify you for the top borrower bracket.
Did anyone see this? I personally liked it, and it ran like a mix between a documentary and a film. It's as if you made Moneyball (based on the book by the same author) into a movie with interviews.

I haven't seen the film, but I have worked in finance (primarily asset management) and can say from my experience that yes, people in this field really are that dishonest. The finance industry disproportionately attracts scumbags: people who are greedy, money-loving, selfish, sabotaging, narcissistic.

Its as difficult as anything else. I worked as a freelancer doing conceptual work for a period of time and found it trying. The people you work for will undervalue your time because of the notion that you are an "artist" and shouldn't be paid for your time. However, the better you get and the better you network, the more $$$, as with anything else. See Dave Rapoza - he can crank out high-level pieces quickly and nets a comfortable living.

£5400 a year is a lot. can you go to a regular university while doing this? it would be cool to have two degrees at the same time. it seems i can't pick a program that applies to canada though.

My m8 did stats with OU and went straight into a nice job with it despite having 5 or so years after school doing fuck all, so it clearly works for getting a degree in certain in demand subjects.
I was planning to do an open degree with emphasis on business, statistics and Chinese. After 2 years I go back to my home country since I am abroad right now and apply at a university (ranked top 100) for a 4 year degree.
