Somewhat, they'll phone you about some stuff when necessary and try to help keep you in the boundaries, but if you are locked out from selling a product and don't have full invoices you're fucked (even if bought 2nd hand)

As to the taxes, does amazon simply give you the cash and have you deal with taxes, or do they subtract taxes and give you the tax free money?

Make sure you have at least a 30% margin because that's how much they take in fees and shipping shortfalls. Add another 20% if you're in a category with a higher percentage of thieves and serial returners. If you can still make a profit after that, hats off to you.

just transferred my pension into a self invested personal pension. (UK).
this allows me to invest in anything, I've got a feeble £20,000.
where do you see the bottom of this market? I'm looking at mostly bluechips with some vanguard funds.

Equal parts of VTI VEU VWO.
VTI is US heavy, so you add VEU to balance it out with non-US stocks. After you add that in, you are heavy on developed economies, so you add VWO to balance things out a bit more.

I have a Legal and General FTSE All Share to track the UK stock market and a vanguard fund for the USA. Some others for other regions like Europe and Japan. Look at the Index funds on offer under the funds tab.
I also have a select few bluechips with strong dividend performance too.
And don't worry OP, we all start somewhere. I have less than half of what you and I'm adding £500 a month.

Whether owning a home is financially wise or not depends on multiple things, all of which has been rehashed on /biz over and over again. Some of them including location, rental prices, mortgage rates, age, employment prospects, etc
Currently my point of view is no, I'd rather take my 20% down-payment and put it into riskier investments... I guess this will change as I get older but I don't see a problem with renting a top-tier town-home for $900 where everything is taken care of for me so I can focus on growing my investments.
Hopefully by the time I desire a home I'll be able to buy one with cash, in full
