When it comes to engineering degrees. how much does it matter from where you obtain the degree?
My mother and I got into an argument about this the other night--she's set on sending me to Yale or Harvard, even though we can't afford it, because she thinks I won't get a job otherwise. I'm currently studying EET at a local community college which also offers a BA in EE, but I'm not sure if I want to pursue that yet.
The unfortunate truth is that Ivy League does have a lot of cachet, and the connections you make there do pay off. However you have to get in first... how does your mom know you'll get in?
Just do your two years at CC and transfer to the best in-state school you can.

not really. sometimes even the ivy schools are a bunch of idiots. look at yale right now for example. you're better off going to a decent school that you can pay for (better if you can get others to pay YOU to go). the other is to make sure you get a high gpa, because some people care about that for your first job and it's easier to get back into grad school later in life
the 2+2 method you're doing is a perfectly sound way to get a EE degree

Have you ever considered farming out your passive income work to freelancers?
(For example, having them write affiliate marketing articles.)
The idea is pretty appealing, because it's much more scalable than solo work.
After a small initial investment on articles and graphics and web design, I start earning, and can commission more people to do the same, and then earn more.
Thoughts? What are some examples of this way of doing things?

kind of, I used to send like 100 emails a day to SEO, web design, etc. companies offering my web content writing services for $20 an article and then getting women on WAHM and other (English-speaking) work from home style sites to do the work for $8 an article. It profited okay, but so much fucking work involved. Dealing with freelancers is a full time job and not at all "passive". You simply can't trust them, as they have no stake in your success. You will find it is more work to manage freelancers...

But I intend to keep my articles to myself, on my own website, and earn advertising or affiliate revenue directly.
The idea is that the freelancers sell something for a once-off profit that I will rent out for a long time and for a much higher profit.

the situation with these guys is they are sitting on at least 60000 ounces of gold (thats refined, not the ore) but are waiting for a mining license from the gov, which is supposedly approved and will arrive shortly. with aus gold prices rising and oil costs (expenditures) falling, the site stands to make an awful lot of money. however, the stock price is currently 0.3c, thats right a third of a cent. the question is, why? why is such a massive potential such a low value? does someone know something i dont? is this a massive opportunity...

The key is the licence hasn't been granted yet. God knows why it hasn't been granted.
I'd be watching only until the licence has been granted - cash burn until then. I had a bad experience with another stock that was waiting on a licence that didn't get granted for close to two years, and in the process, burned through way too much cash and devalued the shares by 90%. You have to question why its not a takeover target at these prices if the licence is a sure and imminent thing

All joking aside, I'm pretty much in the same boat. Not sure if I'm doing it right or just haven't mined anything yet because my computer is too weak. CPU mining on a windows laptop is probably not ideal. Need to research and see if I can mine on a Mac effectively. Probably not with my luck.

Anyways I just watched the movie, the big short and it kind of opened up my eyes to these things. I realized how many of these people who thought they were big shots because they worked for these wall street banks and than at the end of the movie literally thousands of these people lost their job in one day. It just makes me kinda hopeless....

Well what is it?
Most people who start up business usually go to the bank for a loan and get it if they have a solid credit history and their business plan seems reasonable and well thought out. Or they go to family and friends, loan some money and hopefully pay it back if the business goes well.

Any shrinkage in european GDP is going to cause the eurozone to crumble.
The dollar will subsequently rise, causing deflation in the US, and there is a strong possibility of contagion in US banks from a Euro collapse.
Absolute worst case scenario is the a subsequent ignition of a debt crisis in the US
This recession is the recession of sovereign debt crises.
Im absolutely astonished CNBC and even alternative outlets havent implicated the Eurozone as a huge risk in this market.
The same interests that run the US own the major media outlets. It's not that surprising they wouldn't report on it.
In a system based on faith, why would they do anything to undermine it?

I am an entepreneur and management graduate. I wrote my thesis on start-ups and the intuitive and rational thinking proces. From this study I can say that entepreneurs generally follow their hearts with minimum risk until they find an opportunity that could be rationally worked out in a feasible way. So my advise is start without capital (search for the term bootstrap financing) and do what makes you happy and search for feasible business opportunities. Work them out and than go for financing your plans. But starting to do stuff is more important than everything else!
