If I open a bank account in a country with a different currency, and transfer money into it, is there an automatic currency conversion or some kind of separate status for foreign currency?
Country in question is Singapore, if it matters.
Depends entirely on your bank, they might only accept US dollars as foreign money, they might convert it automatically but charge a ridiculous fee or give you a shitty rate. You need to research your bank and their terms for yourself.

Canada here
Deposits of a foreign currency into your Canadian dollar bank account will be converted into canadian dollars at the bank's exchange rate.
If you have an account in Canada denominated in the foreign currency you are depositing it will be deposited as that currency.
If you are depositing foreign currency into an account of a different foreign currency it will be converted to Canadian dollars and then converted to the foreign currency of the account.

Start by getting a job. Any job.
You can't go from Worthless parasite who wakes up at 3pm everyday to eat tendies and play LoL/WoW -> bigshot earning $100k+/yr with an amazing gf and 3 children
What does currency represent? Time? Value? Status?
>>1058503
It represents monetary value
a medium of exchange for goods and services that is backed by gold. Those paper notes are official IOUs that you were supposed to turn into the bank in exchange for gold.
The reason why gold was the standard is because it cannot be replicated or deteriorate. It was to replace inconventient trading, like trading crates of corn for a cow when the crates of corn would eventually go bad. There would be a well known of agreement on how much gold would be needed to trade for the cow or get a blowjob.
At some point in the 20 century, the gold standard was taken away...

How much grain you can buy.
Is now a good entry point, /biz/?
Gold has had a rough 5 years lowering it by 40% since late 2011 and with a bearish or even 'cataclysmic' year ahead, like it is known to do, the price may soar temporarily as people shift their money to valuable commodities so their savings don't vaporise in a bank.
Any gold speculators with a similar mindset?
Bump for interest.
I've thought about this. Its still pretty speculative, but the bears will say that gold is going to shoot through thr roof if/when the natonal debt bubble bursts.
There's seemingly less and less the fed can do to rectify the current financial situation, and if they do QE4 then people may become fearful and put their money into gold.
The real question is whether or not to buy gold mining companies. Right now the price of gold is creating diminishing returns for extracting gold, but if gold were to go to 2 - 5k per ounce (very...

I wonder about this all the time watching the markets have these wild swings. I gotta say I'm a gold bug too but I don't think now is the time.
All I know from my reading is commodity prices drop drastically in deflationary times. Look at mining stocks. They're getting slaughtered right now with oil stocks.
Gold also didn't take off in 08'. Buy near the bottom of said event when people are hoarding cash. If you feel like right now is the bottom then buy.
Waiting doesn't...

Really /biz? You're gonna abandon bitcoin and buy into this russian scam? Look at this guy lol
>>1057174
Yes thats exactly what I intend to do and it's going to make me filthy rich.
>>1057174
It's only NEETs from /r9k/ shilling it.
No one except gullible retards who would've spent their welfare or allowance on tendies and toy figurines are buying it anyway.
No big loss. Some lucky guys are making a decent amount from these retards and a lot of retards are going to scramble to sell quickly soon and the rest will lose out.
The circle of life.
You know satoshi owns 500,000ETH right? You know its nick szabo and he was a contributor to the ETH white paper right? Or did theymos stop you from knowing the truth?

Haven't posted for a while but for those who remember Spreadsheet Guy, I'm back.
3 transactions in the last few days:
$20k AAPL
$20k OFX
$20k IVV
Taking any questions.
>>1055863
Thought process behind OFX and IVV purchases?
Is the ASX headed down or going back up in your view?
>>1055863
Further to that, your views on WOW moving forward? I'm thinking of getting in - seems solid despite the gloom and fear mongering regarding Masters
>>1055870
I want to own US equities but don't have the time at the moment to research individual companies so the SP500 is the next best option.
OFX is an interesting one. Think it's a great company, and bought it initially around $2. Has since had a takeover offer a few months ago. On one hand I'll make a quick dollar if the takeover goes through, otherwise I'm happy to hold for the long term.
WOW.. I'm unsure on. Pretty low conviction on this one. The concern is when I go to Woolworths...

- Anyone here have a successful and durable experience in forex trading ?
- What's techniques did you use ?
- With how much money did you begin ?
- Gives me advice for a beginner like me, please.
I am really sad when i read specialized forums in forex, why?
Because all the trading journal I read ends the same way :
They end up losing all their gains and have their account to 0 dollars, after 6 months or 1 year.
I need testimonials from people who really live forex successfully since several years.

What is your opinion,
Why does/doesnt NEM sound like the future of blockchains
Introducing smart contracts
Introducing better way for private blockchains
Can be used to save companies, governments, institutions money.
Its not about the coin , its about the platform.
So much like ethereum, it provides a ledger for businesses
coded from scratch.
