I know this is a decent primer on investing in general, but what about stocks? Is there a more appropriate read?

Can anyone here recommend me a good book about financial statements?
>have two credit cards
>mobile apps for both offer free credit scores from TransUnion
>both give me two different fucking scores
why
Discover It tells my score is 775 while Crapital One tells me its 730 even though they both report TransUnion scores.
They might both use a different scoring system. If you're talking about Credit Tracker with Cap One - I don't think TransUnion provides the score. They just pull it off of that report. Cap One uses their own scoring system to come up with the score but I know for sure it's not FICO. Read the fine print it tells you. Been a while since I've logged in and looked.
>>1068719
derp just clicked the 'i' and it basically said what you just said. Thanks
>>1068713
The credit reporting companies sell scores based on different metrics. They've got many, many scores they sell. There are like 15 FICO models, and milliions of Plus Scores, vantage scores, and other Supah uselss Scores.
Plus and Vantage are consumer facing upsells,
Some CC's are offering monthy FICO Scores, and myFico are the places to get them.
>be looking for jobs
>after each interview, I send email thanking the hiring manager for the interview
>after two weeks of no response/rejection, I call to follow up and ask for feedback
>never get it
Is everything that my parents and university's career services told me wrong? Also, what's helped /biz/ get through the interview process? I'm looking for a human services job, if it helps.

Connections.

Even more connections.

After college I applied for 32 jobs before landing the one I got. It was an entry level software programmer job making 50K. gambare senpai
Also, consider meeting a recruiter. (they will lie in your behalf)
>>1068431
Thanks. I thought that recruiters were mainly used in the tech and engineering fields, but I'll give it a shot!

any reason why you're still wasting your life on a medieval cross-dressing enthusiast forum?
It's true.
I'm not too dumb, I can finish tasks.
I learn quickly when given new information.
I'm lazy. I don't start difficult things, or long projects.
Small rewards do not attract me enough, even if they will add up to enough to stop working and be free.

What stocks should throw money into RIGHT NOW?

Literally nothing. Market shot the fuck up today because the economy did shit, and that made everyone think "the fed will stop raising rates!" The stock market is in such absurd volatility right now, everything went up because of bad news.
I'm not saying you should wait for the volatility to end, I'm saying wait until Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday when the crash kicks back in.
So we have Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.

Making it harder for smaller independent community banks doesn't make the banking sector safer.
I've now reached /biz/illionaire status. I make far, far more at my job than I spend. I live like a monk and don't want much beyond a video game now and then.
What can I spend all this money on /biz/?
Its not private island and yacht level, but its enough that I could stop working for years and be fine. In fact I tried to do just that but I made it less than a month before I'd gotten another job.
Start a business and become your own boss you faggot.

Philanthropy.
The people who think about philanthropy don't get to do it, the people who don't think about philanthropy get put in the position to do it. Funny how that works.
>>1067533
Buy a geisha's contract and live out your days with a woman who can do all kinds of crazy shit.
/biz/ what would you do with $25k for short-medium term growth?
can you start an online business or something that generates some passive income with that amount of money?
no bully plz.
>>1066268
You can't start a business with a passive income. An established business will have management candidate lined up out the door to do your shit for you but no one is going to care about your shitty little start up if you don't. The best you would get is a 9-5 cunt who blows your money shrugs and walks off.
But if you want to work yourself then $25k is plenty
>>1066268
Do youre homework and you could buy a turnkey from flippa (most are scams)
Depends what kind of time commitment you want to put in.
You have to remember that one person can add a lot of value with their time to a sum like $25K.
If you plan to start a business, I would only use a portion of the money, just in case things go south.
Hey guys, because there isn't a sticky, I thought I'd ask you guys myself.
Could you recommend books/websites to someone who knows jack shit about economics? I want to learn, and maybe get involved in buying stocks. I think it'd be neat to make a little extra money.
>economics
>stocks
generally, economics =/= stocks except for the most simple concepts. For example, in economics you'll learn a lot about monetary and fiscal policy, aggregate demand and supply, inflation, unemployment, etc. These concepts are tied to the economy as a whole and not so much to valuing individual firms and what firms are good/bad investments.
If you have money, throw it into an index fund and forget about it. Picking individual stocks is almost always worse than just being exposed to...

What's that? Keep in mind I know absolutely nothing about money.
>>1069301
When I say index fund I mean one of the Vanguard ones or similar for whatever firm you choose to go with. That will set you up for the long term if you have some disposable income to save every month. (Index funds broadly exposed to the S&P fairly consistently beat stock-picking).

Who worked in a broker ?
People have they really been ruined in this day of January 15, 2015 ?
Negative balance have been refunded by brokers?
Or The customers repay their negative blance ?
>>1068149
I don't understand your English bub- but I'll try to work with you.
Here's how it works-
If customer A Invests $1, and his ballance goes up to $2, the broker takes a % of the gains as his fee.
Now, if it goes down, from $1 to $.5, the broker takes no fee.
The broker ONLY takes a fee on profits- the broker will offer services for free until the customer's account is worth over $1.
If that customers account never hits the 'High Water Mark' then...

I'll never forget that one. Lost my ass being long on a forex broker profiting from NEET's thinking they can win with forex. It's so insanely leveraged it even took out the broker dealing in it. Pic related. Still pisses me off.
Forex. Never. Again.
Oh.. and also a perfect example of why technical analysis of any sort of complete BS. No chart called that one.

how many money you have loss ?
Man, if you live in Canada, never go with RBC, they jerk you around so bad, I had a refund on a $61.00 order, and have been waiting FOREVER, to get it put back into my account.
I wouldn't be upset if it wasn't for the fact that RBC admitted that the company I had ordered from had already done everything on their part, and it was the bank processing.
So the first guy who messages me back says 3-5 business days, for sure, I messaged him on the 4th day, and he said "overnight"...
2 days pass again, today nothing, I message again asking what...

Also their customer service is awful, I was polite as fuck at first, and was very cooperative, and "Cindy" my RBC Bank Advisor was belligerent and rude as fuck to me. I was nothing but understanding and level with them until she made it worse.
