What are jobs that you can learn skills on your own that you can pursue that pay well?
Anyone here /selfmade/ or /workfromhome/?
Start at restaurants. Learn the trade. Save money to open your own. Then hire peopl to run the show and sit back and enjoy the benefits all while keeping an eye on it.

You can bet that the majority are filled/exploited, due to the simple fact that everyone had the same idea as you.
if you were competent enough to do anything on your own, you wouldn't be asking this question. you would already have people all over the world who know and respect you.
i would expect you to end up as a driver or janitor somewhere, but data science is pretty good to get into if you have a solid circle of wealthy business friends and mentors.
Ok I feel like this place is a better place to ask this than /ic/ because they know shit about the business side of art.
To start off, I am an illustrator/cartoonist. I tried freelance for a few years but it wasn't working because I sucked at marketing myself. Was getting paid for commissions few and far apart.
I currently work full time in a creative field. Not illustration but hope to get there one day. My dream job would be doing art for a cartoon/video game/etc.
So a friend of mine said a collegue of his is pitching a cartoon show idea to a major network...

Ask them what their budget is. Ask for a few days.
Tell them you're offering their budget price if not just under it.
They better make it big if you want to get on with them and CN/Nick.
Personally, I'd give them the story boards for a price. See what they do with the big network. If they start gaining some momentum, hop on. In the meantime, only sell storyboards to them at/around their budget price.
It sounds like they don't know what a going rate is for your services, so find their budget and there you go. Capitalize!
>>1368408
So basically, ask to do both? To be charged a flat rate for the storyboards for the pitch and then take on the art director position and get the percentage if they're greenlit?
What if they're hoping it's either one choice or the other? Like if its greenlit, would they expect me to refund the money they paid because I would be getting a percentage instead?
>>1368408
This sounds like an OK way to go.
You hold all the cards, desu, you're the artist. Cartoons, in large part, succeed because of good artwork.
Sign on for a rate for the first go and then discuss ownership after that.
You're going to be the artist, if you pull anchor with such a fledgling idea and the visual display is what made the idea take off, you're vital. (as opposed to something that's old as fuck that someone can easily replicate because they can just study the show)

Seriously, with conservative estimates of gold hitting $1500 by the end of year, and gold dropping vastly on 7/7 market close, is now not the time?
Not that I have any insider knowledge that this stock will blow up on Monday 7/11 or anything.
(Not suggesting an investment.)
I dumped in an additional $20k at round $150, and I easily see $190 very soon. Today's drop was solely people selling early for safety.
I got a lot of people in StockTwits and /r/wallstreetbets on this to build up momentum do the same

people are really fucking dumb, ignore the dead cat bounces and other bullshit in technicals, look at what really drives gold prices, on top of this we have GREXIT incoming.

Background:
Canada fag here looking at the end of his economy (I work in oil and gas). My company is cutting wages and being general assholes. Currently they won't hire me, but have been contracting through another bullshit company for 3 years. I like my job so I am working with my contracting idiots to get a raise since I think I can make more elsewhere and my company claims they made the changes based on current market value.
Question:
How do I find out my current market value? Looked at glassdoor and a few other sites but generally can't find a title...

I've been a victim of sexual harassment at work. My supervisor isn't super helpful. I'm at work right now. What do? I won't be able to readily respond until later.

Put some sort of invisible yet luminescent powder on your butt and boobs. Then call a meeting and cut the lights to comedically reveal your harasser with a black light.
I'm not sure if that makes sense right now, but write that down and you can work out something from that.

Just a reminder to buy ETH while it's cheap.
The surge is coming in late July. Trust me on this; it will be at $125/coin by August.

Hello /biz/. I've done very well in the stock market recently, and I'd like to turn some of that profit into silver and gold for my holding. My question is, what are the different types of silver / gold that I can invest in and how do I know which is the best buy?
I was on a website, looking at some bard and slabs, and different ones with different designs sell for different prices. Why does silver have different values depending on the type of bar (these were the same oz. value, so one wasn't bigger than the other).
Thanks.
Premiums vary from mint to mint, and anything on the "Good Delivery" list costs extra.
You want 1ozt gold bars and 10ozt silver bars. These sizes are typically bought by both refineries and private collectors. Any smaller and the refineries won't buy them - they need large amounts of silver at a time, so anything less than these sizes are typically passed over. Any bigger and private collectors can't afford them.
>>1368032
Thanks for the advice, anon.
>>1368032
Also, are people likely to buy one bar over the other? For example, if I bought a Royal Canadian Mint bar, would it be easier to sell it than to sell a Scottsdale Reserve bar?

For fucks sake, this guy basically copied the CS bachelors degree from MIT and did it in 12 fucking months for $2,000 years ago.
https://www.scotthyoung.com/blog/myprojects/mit-challenge-2/
Obviously, CS is a bit easier to learn yourself from home, and employers usually don't even care if you don't have a degree if you're impressive, but just the fact that this shit is TOTALLY possible and costs fucking NOTHING compared to a degree should be enough. As a bonus, you'll be so much more motivated if you were able to do it all by yourself. If I...

It's all about doing what you love.
So you're flunking, or otherwise failing at University, and you're here to try and justify your shortcomings? It's quite common around here, don't worry.

Jot down business idea and plan. Few bullet points and what not just to stay focused on business goal.
Buy service to set up llc (or w.e) and find an accountant.
Register all permits with city.
Register trademarks / logos
Hire people
Throw money at marketing
And your done.
>>1367854
What do you want to sell?
>>1367867
Fuck all this. This is a waste of time. First determine if your business is viable by actually selling your goods or services then worry about all the legality and red tape later.
I put $200 in WAVES on day 1 of the ICO. It's now worth $350. What should I do with this?
>>1367844
Idk either hold until some new features are released like the trading exchange, should be sweet.
Or sell like 50 bucks worth and buy trump with it.
Or sell it all and buy 0.8 or so btc.
Or sell waves put btc into a forex exchange and all in 1000x leverage and turn it into 300k in a week (If you don't lose it all first)
Or ride the waves.
>>1367853
Isn't the halving going to affect this? It seems like it seems like everyone bought the news and BTC being at ~$600 is all that will happen but I'm not sure.

Dear /biz/ How can I improve my business card?
I have a shitty logo, but a decent name for it, but I feel like im lacking something. Thank you
>>1367817
Looks okay.
I'd make the "Computer Issues? Computer Lessons?" a bit larger.
Also OP. I own a small biz and have never used business cards. I use flyers. The images and explanation really help me sell the business. I have had way way more luck using flyers than business cards.
>>1367817
Adress to office perhaps?
>>1367817
Why the fuck are you using sentence fragments in the form of a question below your logo.
Your business card is suppose to inspire confidence, it's suppose to be bold, it's support to make an impression.
Don't muddle that by asking your cardholders questions.
