So how do I manage to inspire and motivate myself to chase my business dreams?
I have tried a few things. The most recent thing I have done is pic related- I created a biography that I hope will sit on my company website in 10 years when my business is successful. I read it every night before bed so I can finally motivate myself to succeed...
but it isn't enough. I still feel afraid of failure.
What do I do? Surely some success stories from /biz/ can help me?

Here in Canada they're kind of hard to get and you get maybe ~$1000/month at most even for legit physical disability.
Seems kind of low to actually live a fulfilling life.
Hi i made a thread awhile ago when i was still struggling to be involved in coprate security in the UK, (no one probably remembers ;_:)
Well i succeeded in my endevour and now work a very comfortable job guarding a massive warehouse at what i think is reasonable pay.
However in a couple of months i think id be finacially sound enough to progress to the next level i want to be at: personal security. I'm working on my fitness and reading up on requirments but theres one, major thing i noticed: the only people who get hired well in personal security who dont have a previous history of serving in the armed forces all have one thing: Firearm's training.
I'd take this guestion to /k/ but I feel it would both slide into oblivion with all the recent turmoil the boards facing and i got some genuinly great answers from people here. I mean hey, advice here got me this far.
(pic somewhat related, i know it wouldnt be practical but bloomin' hell would i feel badass if if I could guard someone with one of these tucked under my jacket)

sorry OP but I don't think that's going to be possible. Even here in America I live in a non-gun friendly state and the only people who get concealed carry licenses are ex police and millionaires who say they need guns or they'll get kidnapped.

/biz/ how exactly am I supposed to "backtest" my trading ideas? am i supposed to go over charts in detail and see if my ideas were right, or are there programs that do it automatically?

back testing is a waste.
Just find a strategy, ichi, fibs, patterns, and go scroll back and just test how the strategy works.
Backtesting is for people to learn the basics of how a system or strategy works.
Yes, they are programs out there, i believe thinkorswim,ninjatrader, and a couple of others have great backtesting tools, like "real time" back test where candles will act like its in real time.
But yea no reason to waste time backtesting. Just go and do real live paper trading...

I inherited my Grandmother's condo several months ago when she passed away. Some relatives came out of the woodwork hearing about all this money/property in her will so obviously took several months of lawyer crap but I finally have the deed in my hand. No mortgage or nothing, I own it outright.
The condo is a dump, almost everything is broken and needs some major renovation. I had it looked at by an appraiser (no, did not tell the govt anything about it yet) and he said it's in the $85k range. The condos in the same building are worth $110k but because of the renovations needed it could never sell for that much.
I am paranoid about cheap contractors running away with my money, because I have heard of such horror stories. So going with a reputable, larger well known renovation company they estimated $30k to fix everything and that includes brand new appliances, carpet, paint, etc. Maybe that quote is too much, I have no clue about construction stuff.
It could probably rent for $800/month in this area, but property prices went to hell in the recession and haven't recovered since. So I don't see the property value going up anytime soon unless more businesses setup shop in the future.
Should I just sell it and be done with it or fix it up and hold onto it/rent it out?
Rent it out and start building passive income.

If the neighbourhood isn't too shitty I would rent it out. You can get more money out of it in the long run.
I wouldn't try to be too cheap about it though, you'll have more trouble with things breaking down far to often.

Hey guys, it's my first time posting on /biz/, and I come at you guys with a scenario. Not sure if this would be better posted else where as I didn't see a real 'US Law' channel on 4Chan.. Anyway,
Employer A is a family owned, seasonal work hotel that caters to upper class white people for Spring and Summer peaks. Employer A has hired a South American J1 Visa worker to work in Housekeeping as her primary task. Now advance to Peak of Season. The Employer has asked the J1 worker to also buss tables in the restaurant. Bussing is a tipped position. From the average 'per person per plate' numbers, a bussers tip out earns more than a houskeepers standard wage. However, Employer A refuses to grant their J1 worker the bussing tips they've earned. Is this legal under any state or federal law?
tld;dr is it legal to have someone work in two separate departments that are paid differently but only pay them as if they were doing the less paying of the two?

It is illegal to not grant an employee their earned tips no matter what job, but especially if it is a tipping job. If the employer agreed to pay her the same wage bussing as a housekeeper and she continued to make tips, she is entitled to both her normal pay and her tips. Keep in mind that the employer is not paying her tips; so they're basically taking money she earned thay they have no right to.
State laws may be different. Look it up yourself before doing anything about it.
And that's how I see it also.. Is there more information you could help me with? I'm doing research on the matter but I can't find anything substantial..

I don't really have too much but one time I was working next to literally all women and they forced me to do all the physical work while they did next to nothing and I wasn't having any of that so I got fired before my first shift even ended.
every job i've worked has been shit. (except one summer job i had as a kid at the beach, but that was mostly because everyone partied after work).
doesn't really matter what you do. you won't have a satisfying life as a salaried worker unless your salary is extremely high.
we're moving into a world of niche small businesses with global outreach - the only entities that big box and conglomerates can't compete with.
i've worked at burger king and in a bakery
fast food jobs are a nightmare but you can learn some social skills there and make some friends

Ok, /biz//, I am an extroverted (I strike up conversions with everyone), honest("Does this hat look good on me?" - "No."), sometimes blunt (but I can control it most of the time), guy and I know how to handle my self at work OK(basically say nothing if I am not sure if I will offend someone). And I like arguments (not yelling type but discussion type... )
But the problem is the females. They will get offended with ANYTHING in the workplace. Or at least that is because I am not handsome or tall.
Should I just ignore them and talk to them EXCLUSIVELY...

One female once got offended when she forgot to order food for me (company paid for the meals that week).
I said: "It's no problem. I will eat at home anyways. I am going back to do more work." Maybe she thought I was angry but I was completely calm, my tone was calming and slightly uninterested, my gestures were slow and calming too.
She came to my office in middle of business call and kept asking me "Would you like me to order you something ? Or buy you something?"
