Wait... I thought you said yesterday was the only time?
Hi friends,
I was thinking about throwing $1000 in the next time ETH dipped.
How low do you think the price will go with the news of the DAO/ETH hack and likely hard fork?
(Honestly, I don't give a shit about DAO or the tech. I just want to make a couple bucks like I did with bitcoin and others.)
-Thanks
I'd wait for the west coast to wake up shit a brick and panic sell before you jump on. But thats just my opinion.
I'm thinking around $10
Definitely not jumping in today. We'll see what happens.
>>1314628
Its going back up to $18 by the end of the day. Panic over, ethcore is going to be issuing a patch.

What's the minimum capital I need to get £24K/year (adjusted for inflation) for the rest of my life, WITH ONLY safe and non risky and non clever investments?
I don't want to know what returns some clever /biz/man things they can get by investing in just the right things. I want low risk income that takes no thought.
I need a point at which to cash out my Bitcoins.
I'm going to hold them just long enough to ensure I would never have to work again if I don't want to. Sure more might be nice but £24K/year is my minimum that would give...

I know some dudes who make a living off bitcoin. They just drip-feed them on exchanges and buy during dips. I dont have that much in BTC but i do make around $100 per week on passive income.
Personally I think you need around £200k or more to sustain that amount of passive income on yearly basis
300k in a mutual fund

seriously? That would be like 8 - 12% returns? And that's not just the best case? (I guess I am interested in the worst case scenario as I wouldn't want less than my target)
...if that's really the case I'm a lot closer than I thought...

What if the people who run the economy poured money into public investment instead of funnelling it into wall street?
>>1314441
spend money for the masses? wheres the profit in that?
>>1314453
People would buy things here and companies would make profits on the price of the thing they're selling vs the cost to produce it.
It's much more profitable for companies to have cheap money to pour into buybacks of their own stock, produce if you can overseas but keep costs almost at a zero. Long term it is only sustainable if you can keep the growing mass of superfluous population in line, which they're.
Im 50% sure that the eth hacker would be on /biz/ so if you could help me eat for next week id appreciate it mr russian hacker man

Hello /biz/ness people.
Can anyone suggest an extensive forum directory?
I am particularly looking for businesses offering small-to medium sized services.
Jesus christ that infographic.

That infograph is a disinfograph.
It's not even half way correct on any of that.

>commodities are produced because they can be sold, not because they're needed
Holy fuck delete that pic.
And no /b/iz/ cannot suggest an extensive forum directory. This board is for shitcoins/memestocks/and shitposting about various careers.
lets start ideas how to generate passive income
my passive income consists of:
ebook sales (erotic literature). took me 2 months to write and gives me about 100€/month (over the last 2 years so far)
small website, about 150€/month. still needs about 5 hours of work each month
stocks, obviously. having 50k € in diversified portfolio, making about 13% each year (since 3 years, including dividends)
any more ideas to increase my passive income? best idea seems to write more erotic books. horny housewives buy this shit and writing them is pretty easy

I'm looking to form an LLC with a business partner (he is the general contractor, I'm the dude with money). We are going to start flipping houses. What do I need to look out for? The houses will be registered under the LLC, and let's say we get to the point where there are 10 houses. Who actually owns those houses? I don't want to live in a house, and he goes rouge, and just takes it. I'm still researching all of these things, just wants to throw this out there.
Don't do this

Why? It'll save us both a ton of money. He will be the GC, and I'm the investor. He has no money, and I know nothing of building homes. Also, I'm already in IT, haha. I work at Rackspace.
over two years ago everyone said it would be gone before the end of 2014
I had no evidence that it was still a thing until I read this post
It's not a thing. It has failed to keep up with bitcoin.
US Dollars aren't a thing either.
Buy ethereum.
Ask a guy who invested 50% of his savings in a VIX ETF (HVU at $19.47) and is about to lose it all anything.
I was banking on the volatility to increase ahead of the Brexit referendum, but then that poor MP got shot and now everyone knows they aren't going to exit. The VIX is dropping like a stone and I'll be lucky if I keep a quarter of my money after it's all said and done.
Did anyone else make this same mistake?

mate i wish i could believe your kind words, but literally all the hype surrounding the possibility of a brexit has ended. even the articles that come out anymore aren't talking of what would happen when it occurs, but instead speak of the calming of the markets and the rise of the pound due to the lower possibility of the brexit.
i will commit soduku when HVU opens at 13 tomorrow, and just want to to avenge me when it's sub 10 next friday.
Ok, so I'm 24 with a wife that doesn't work, and we have two kids. I make about $80k a year between my day job and VA income. I managed to scrape together around $6000 for investing. What are your opinions? Should i figure out day trading or let some white collar dude who went to school for finance do my trading through a mutual fund?
Here's my advice to you read these books. Most of the people here will not be able to give you the facts and outstanding reasoning you will find in this line up of books.

Thank you, I really appreciate your input. Being a father of two and working my ass of doesn't leave me much wiggle room to figure out how to plan for the future, whether it's a week from now or decades from now. Some material to read may set me in the right direction!

Dude, weird that you come here. Unless you're an active investor who understands fundamental and technical analysis well, you should let someone manage your money for now. Until you understand better you don't want to lose your hard earned money. I'm 21 and in my last year of a finance degree, if you have no prior knowledge of investments the learning curve can be steep. For now I recommend mutual funds such as the ones vanguard or Edward Jones provide.

So yeah some crazy stuff happened today. I managed to get access to an order database of a major ISP in my country...
Now I have zero experience in hacking whatsoever but I decided to give it a try since I walked into their store one day and saw a worker type in the URL of their order system. Turns out this ISP is not taking account safety seriously. It littarly took me 1 hour and some smart thinking to gain access to their database through numerous accounts.
Since I now suddenly have access to around 2.7 million people and their mobile/internet/telephone/tv subscriptions...

You do realize op has committed a felony and will probably spend 20+ years in prison?
So this meme where if you work with a company for 40 years they give you a cozy desk job with a pension as a reward for your loyalty. Something like Manager supervisor or Supervisor Management etc
Does that still exist? I know my grandpa had it
Why the fuck would you ever want to work for 40 years?
Pretty much no, at least not in America. Pensions are horribly expensive to maintain, difficult to manage, and expose both the company and employees to many risks. Score of people lost their pensions when individual companies or whole industries (railroads, steel, airlines) went through restructuring in the past. Even those few jobs that do have pensions (teachers, police, other government employees) are fraught with political and financial problems.
The 401k has pretty much replaced the pension in most private businesses. A 401k is not subject to the credit risk of the...

String of 75% chances all day
Hey guys, 18 year old Britbong here.
Today was my last day of schools & exams, and I'm now having a gap year. Within this year I plan to save £10,000, in which a friend and myself plan to put a deposit down on a house prior to going to university.
So if you had 1 year and 2 months, with around £5,000 capital to start with, what would you do?
Looking for general advice really.
Current plan is to work at job (got one which allows me to 'lightly run' a business and pays £10 an hour.)
I'm also trying to gain work experience...

You still wont be able to afford a house in a year. I'd suggest finding a fat bitch to fuck that will let you live with her and feed you while you save all the cash you can. Then move on and repeat.

Need more information.
How did your exams go? I assume you did A-levels.
What university are you going to?
What will you be studying?
Regarding the job who are you working for?
What exactly will your duties be?
When will you start and how long will you work for?

Working at The Gap for a year? Kind of a short time to have on your resume to begin your career.
