/asp/ in general isn't a big fan if anything other than sanda/sanshou, unless you say that you're doing it for the cool factor, because you're into some philosophical Chinese shit, or are a straight chinaboo. Mostly because of questionable effectiveness/it taking a hell of a lot longer to be good enough for it to be effective than some other arts. Personally, I've seen some not shit grappling from certain cma stuff, and taichi seems cool because muh health and doing it unto seniority. Plus, I figure...

Isn't Sanshou basically said martial arts just applied to a competitive setting? Mcregor and Lyoto have a traditional mart arts style and it works for them, Mcregor especially flows a lot like Bruce Lee.

So we had a conversation with my friends once, about a challenge: would you wrestle a bear (let's say European brown bear) in a closed MMA cage for 3 minutes, if the bear would be totally shaved, claws removed (not the teeth though), and it would be lubed up with baby oil. The prize would be 1 Million $ if you survive.
You would be also naked in the cage, lubed as well.
You don't need to win the fight or anything, you just need to survive.
So who is in to take the challenge, and what do you think about your survival chances?

I've seen a brown bear in a shitty zoo and it was nervous and pissed off. It was probably the scariest thing I ever saw. That said, declawed it doesn't seem that tough, all I have to do is not get my bones broken too much.

It is extremely important to get boots that fit you well and to have them heat moulded. Therefore, it is very important to go to a professional bootfitter (not just a ski shop, but specifically a bootfitter). For a list of reputable bootfitters, refer to epicski.com/wiki/boot-fitters-on-epicski
You can also consider getting custom footbeds for increased comfort and performance. If you are a beginner this is not that important (though getting boots from a bootfitter is), but if you are an advanced-expert skier it will make a big difference.

>What bindings should I get?
The most important things to consider with bindings are DIN range and brake width. Your DIN should be around the middle of your binding's DIN range. For example, if you ski with a DIN of 7, a 4-12 binding would be good for you. A 1-7 or a 7-16 would be bad. If you don't know your DIN, look up a DIN chart.
The brake width should be approximately equal to the waist of the ski. It's better for the brake to be a little smaller than a little bigger (ski shop techs can bend the brakes when they mount the bindings), but if you go more than 7mm or so smaller the brakes might not fit well. Going up to about 10mm wider on the brakes is alright too as long as you don't carve really aggressively.

When practice snap kicks, whether front or roundhouse, I feel pain behind my left knee, a little above my calf. I stretch and I still feel it sometimes. I rarely feel it in my right but today when I was following an exercise that involved front snaps, on the 3rd circuit, I felt pain behind both.
Is it a muscle or tendon issue? How did you prevent it?
