Are there any schools/disciplines of Karate or TKD that throw kata, forms, and wood breaking out of the window?
I'm looking for a school/discipline that purely focuses on sparring. No "self defense" bullshit.

Kyokushin kata is lip service at best.
Kudo has no kata but that depends on a) deciding whether it qualifies as karate (according to my teacher it does) and b) finding it outside of Japan and Russia.

I know it sounds much cooler to say you're doing karate, but what you want is straight up kickboxing and you can find kickboxing school pretty much everywhere.

I'd say its actually embarrassing to say you do karate with the stereotype of the typical TKD or Karate student being what it is
Hey guy's first time posting on /fit/ like ever,
so here's the break down I'm starting to learn how to box soon.
I am 5'6" 130lbs little muscle and a very little fat just excess skin really.
My soon to be coach told me its an entirely different lifestyle and that is something I must be mentally
and physically prepared to give up everything i'm doing now.I Think he's just saying that to scare me away because he thinks

I've just started snowboarding. How do I do toe edge turns and stops? I always catch an edge or and fall. Last time I went I ended up just switching sides to always do heel edge, and I'm going to practice toe edge next time I go, but I was wondering if anyone had tips.
