How intelligent are parrots?
I'm considering taking one. How long can they live on average?

Define parrot, there are many kinds. A cockatoo like in your pic is a very difficult pet that needs huge amounts of care and attention and can outlive you, not recommended.

Go for something else man, these are specialty animals and your days will suck from here on out. Sorry for being simple, my post got lost.

Cockatoodles live for 50-70 years so it's a Buy It For Life purchase.
what everyone said
they take a LOT of attention and care. They're also very messy and can be loud. Only get a bird if you're absolutely sure you want one and have the time to devote to them.

Don't plan on being away from it for more than a day or 2 for the rest of your life... They are just as permanent of a decision as a tattoo

Don't get one unless you're willing to devote a fuckton of your free time to it. and you dont mind constant screaming.
The smarter parrots are like toddlers, and need about as much attention. plus they live like 70 years.

what kind of parrot is it?

Intelligence of a 5 year old with the emotional maturity of a 2 year old, and they stay like that for the eternity that they live.

>How intelligent are parrots?
Depends on the parrot, but many have child-level smarts.
>How long can they live on average?
Decades. Like, 50+ years for some species
