It's a narrow angle. I'm not saying that it shouldn't be stopped, because it should. But it's similar to saying that child labor should be stopped. When a family has two options, put their child to work, or face even more severe poverty, you know it doesn't matter what we sitting here on our silken chairs think.
Also one thought experiment, how many of us would be willing to pay, say, two, three, four times the cost of our food (whichever it would takes), to eradicate poor treatment of animals in our western factory farming methods? It'd be a very tough sell even if looking at the graph here it shouldn't be.
