0/10 chipped away at my soul.
>>2147844
I quit.
>>2147844
Would that suffice for brine shrimp or triops?
>>2148036
Looks to be the same size they sell Sea Monkey tanks so it would at least be livable.
>>2147844
There are lots of USB aquariums on the market, making it easy to find one that fits your fishes' needs.
>>2147844
What's wrong with this? I've seen bettas in stores at little glass containers that didn't have more than a quarter of a liter.
That definitely is bigger that what the stores had.
>>2148054
just because a fish can survive in something doesnt mean its sufficient or good for them at all. its impossible for that water to stay clean and at the right levels of anything to keep it happy and safe.
Most people I talk to seem to think goldfish only live a few years. With the conditions people keep them in I don't know why they're surprised. I had a goldfish that lived to be 25.
>>2148054
Stores also have puppies and kittens in small cages. That doesn't make it acceptable long term.
>>2148060
When I was younger, my folks told me that goldfish only live a couple weeks at the most.
>>2148060
they're forever branded as throwaway pets thanks to media and shit, which is saddening when they live decades and get huge as fuck
>>2147844
that monster? pfft, get on my level
>>2147844
Needs more piranhas desu

DELET THIS
unrelated question:
Is it alright to have goldfish like in this video, with a bare tank with no gravel or substrates for cycling?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSO1DE6kjTA
>>2148173
Perfectly fine. Gravel that's too large can pose a health risk to voracious eaters like goldfish (also why plants don't tend to last with them), and fish like those with poor vision/delicate tails can do a lot of harm to themselves on various decorations.
The only thing I'd say they really need is some sort of shade structure, but otherwise they're just fine.
>>2148050
Is that a parrotf cichlid? Holy shit.
>>2148050
>here's a fish that needs around 40 gallons of water to survive in
>nah lol lets give it 5 ounces instead
Can anything actually feasible live in these things besides plants?
>>2148306
Shrimp. Hex fish.
>>2147844
I love how it's only half full of water.
Speaking of goldfish...
>>2147844
Fucking tiny guy
>>2148050
Good job /an/, now I'm sad. :c
Bringing back betta vases with possibly the worst example I've ever seen. At least this poor fish's suffering will be short.
>>2148050
That fish looks like it's already dying
How difficult would it be to silicone a watertight acrylic divider into a 2.5 or 5 gallon tank? There are USB powered lights, water pumps, and clocks available throughout Amazon and eBay, so with a simple hub and some fidgeting you could actually make one of these yourself in a half-decent size.
>>2147844
cancer/10
This better be bait
>>2148050
>parrot cichlid in that tiny tank
OK, I've been triggered
>>2148054
Bettas are air-breathers and don't really need a lot of water to survive.
>>2148517
That is a bit small. But betta vases aren't all too terrible, they dont require much swiming room and enjoy the cover the roots provide. The plant does provide oxygen from its roots, also it can eat parts of the roots and algae that will grow on the roots. As long as you have a fairly fast growing plant the water quality wont change much and you can also lighten up with feedings.
>>2148942
Except that bettas are carnivorous and labryrinth fish.
>>2148636

>>2147844
>Misplace a pen
>Stab the fish
>>2148959
They are primarily carnivorous. But 98% of fish are scavengers and will eat other items. Labyrinth fish means they can gulp air from the surface when oxygen levels get low. Also fish dont need to be fed daily.
>>2149114
LOL
>>2149137
>But 98% of fish
Congratulations on being able to make up numbers. Betta aren't scavengers.
>Labyrinth fish means
It means they can survive in low-oxygen environments if they have access to the surface, which they need regardless.
>>2148050
This shit is killing my soul anon. Please don't.
>>2147844
always amusing when someone trolls very specifically and just a bit believably, catching all the gullible little /an/ fishies in their net 10/10 op
>>2149239
I think most of the outrage in this thread comes from the fact that product is a real thing that exists.
>>2148942
How do you get a heater in a vase, though?
>>2149144
Fuck now wanna do a mayan temple aquasape
>>2148060
we had like 8 different goldfish over the years and they all died within 1 or 2 years
we just didn't know what the fuck we were doing wrong
>>2149094
That image summarizes this entire thread
>>2149184
It even says on the beta outline page, that they eat whatever is present in the waters they are in. They tend to live in waters where there aren't all too many things to choose from naturally.
Also Its actually more like 99%, there are very few fish that will not scavenge for other forms of food. Theres also lots of micro organisms/crustaceans that are in water and live in a colony of algae. To act like a fish wont eat to survive is retarded.
>>2151308
>on the beta outline page
The what?
Nothing you're saying sounds remotely valid.
>>2151308
betta eating whatever is present doesnt mean its getting the nutrients that it needs
your dog eating cat shit doesnt mean that its good for it
>They tend to live in waters where there aren't all too many things to choose from naturally.
Wrong. The rice paddies of Thailand are absolutely infested with mosquito. Bettas mostly live off of mosquito larvae
>>2151581
>>2151592
Wild Betta fish are hardy and can eat almost anything in their environments, including worms, larvae of mosquitoes or other insects, and even smaller fish. Their natural environment is often resource-limited, so many Betta species have little choice of food.
>can eat almost anything in their environment
>anything in their environment
>natural environment is often resource limited
>resource limited
Sure.
>>2151619
This is an argument about whether or not Betta can live off of a diet of plant roots and algae. All of the things you listed are meaty and defeat the point of arguing against the people you're arguing against.
>>2147844
It sucks that you cant keep fish in these because they are so comfy to have on a desk.
I wonder if you could keep a mino in it
>>2152549
A five gallon tank fits on a desk pretty easily.
>a mino
A what?
>>2152702
>it sucks that you can't keep fish in it, but maybe you could keep a fish in it
kek
Show your pet Betta you love it with the new Comfish Betta aquarium.

betta fish dont need heaters
>>2153481
but what if they get cold?
>>2153482
unless your room is below 70, they are fine. They can live their full life without the heater they really don't need it.
>>2153481
>stop disagreeing with me you poopheads you'RE HURTING MY FEELINGS
>>2153481
Look up temps in Thailand sometimes.
Unless you live in a tropical region, they need a heater.
Can anyone help me
They said in the shop it was a female but it looks like a male to me?
Anyone still here?
>>2153688
Yeah, looks male. See if you can get a clearer picture with his fins spread out more.
>>2153707
got a few more, best i could get
>>2153710
>>2153711
how do you know if a fish is male or female with his fins?
>>2153912
With bettas the males usually have longer thins
what's the best way to start a feeder guppy colony within a turtle tank and a good umber to start with?
>>2153941
>within
Why? The turtle is going to eat them if you put them in the tank with it.
>a good umber to start with
2 males 4 females
>>2153955
mainly to have them act as minuet source of protein, gives her some stimuli with trying to chase them, and act as a clean up crew to food scraps let behind. (mainly going with guppies since I've heard they breed fast and stay small enough size where they won't be maimed when caught as opposed to platies or mollies)

>>2153443
To unlatch he top for feeding/stop fish from jumping out.
>>2147844
I'd have one of those
But I'd probably keep little shrimpies in them rather than a fish
>>2154324
It's 3 pints. I wouldn't even keep shrimp in it.
>>2154276
Pretty good. Now rate mine.
>>2154413
Very convenient when changing water.
Interesting view when taking a shit.
A little overstocked though.
