>tfw it acctualy walked on earth
>>2143287
I'm sad that we don't have any cool shit like that on Earth today.
>>2143289
blue whales are the largest animal ever to live on the planet
African elephants are no Deinotherium but they're pretty cool too
But yeah most of the cool shit that lived on Earth are already gone
>>2143318
There were fucking "lions", "cheetas", camels, lamas, turtle mammals, giant sloths, elephants, and even fucking tapirs in North America some living all the way up to the Arctic.
And it's nearly impossible to see a blue whale unless you have the money to go in their habitat, and you're very lucky enough to spot a glimpse of it's nose when it comes up for air.
>>2143289
You're just seeing the reality in a bad way.
If that thing was alive and common you'd be saying how something else is not here.
You need to open your eyes dude.
"There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle."
>>2143392
I usually do. In fact, I have experienced watching some of the rarest animals in my state in the wild(and up close a couple times), I've kept some pretty exotic fish, and watch my friends freak out feeding them live animals.
I think that the doom n' gloom liberal college mentality mixed with the very conservative aspects of 4chan has plundered my spirit. So I've become a shittier person lately.
>>2143616
get better fregger
my best.01 favourite megafauna period animal.
>>2144017
here with skin
I really like his skull
>>2144020
also the bigest bite force from all the mammals ever lived.
Damn prehistoric marsupials were amazing
>>2144018
That things is ugly as shit. Mammoths dire wolves or wooly rhinos are much more elegant
>>2144311
>you will never get to experience riding a hellish-looking whale with hooves as it makes pig-screetches in battle
>>2144338
I'll ride a wooly rhino which would btfo that ugly thing
Behold, the boxfish. Its skeleton is pretty much just a skull because the fish is composed of one piece.
My favorite one
>>2143744
fucking hell
>>2143744
I love how gibbons, despite just being lesser apes, have skeletons which looks more like human than those of any other ape.
>>2145993
>>2144026
>>2144025
>>2144020
why all fine marsupials had to excint
>>2145798
Looks like an ant eater
wooly rihno had some based skeleton
If not humans he would probably live till today due to no natural enemies
>>2145798
You know that lemur is coming for dat booty.
>>2146031
They would have a natural enemy, they are called niggers.
>>2143289
>1670 years in the future looking at a Hippo or anteater Skeleton
"I wish we had cool shit like that on Earth today"
Not exactly the most exciting here, but really looking forward to cleaning picture related up a bit more this summer. A farmer gave them to me after I'd done a placement, the horns are absolutely fantastic.
>>2146132
And, not the most exotic, but one of my favourites- the humble chicken. Always loved the way chickens look as skeletons, we've got some really interesting specimens in our hall at Uni, I'll try and get a few more pictures tomorrow- there's a mole, and his claws are awesome.
>>2146109
Fuck hippos and their temper tantrums.
Nice thread bros! Dinosaurs are cool and all, but I've always been drawn to extinct mammalian megafauna. They just seem familiar, but just a little otherworldly.
>>2144025
>that filename
Shame they are too heavy to climb trees, otherwise it could have been called dropbear as well.
OP, why the fuck do you save images at such a low resolution? What made you think this was a good idea?
>>2143616
Why does this one make me lol?
>>2143744
i didn't know michael phelps died
>>2143744
ooga booga wher da white gibbyns @
>>2144018
>you will never taste the flesh of all those delicious, forgotten animals
Just
>>2146132
Looks he got castrated some point after being an adult since their horns, especially at the base go to shit.
>>2144014
Those are the actual bones? WTF is going on with that spine?
>Here are backbones of three types of shew: The standard shrew (A) the original Hero Shrew (B) andthe newly discovered Hero Shrew (C). Scientists believe the new Hero Shrew might lift rocks and logs to find grubs
Well shit. First gears in katydids and now internal back braces in shrews. Nature is awesome. Wish I had a 5x stronger, interlocking lower spine. Might help with the sciatica.
>>2144371
I had one of these in my reef :) beautiful little buggers. Very friendly too
>>2145791
Damn, anteaters have tiny brains.
mola mola
be warned, this one's a little spooky.
Doggo and human

Pretty neat
Posted these in the last naturalist collection thread.
Merycoidodon culbertsoni, Brule Formation. Oligocene, but at the time of collection it was considered to be Cretaceous in age.

Stop having so much cool shit.
One person can simply not own so many priceless artifacts.
>>2150805
I don't own them. I'm just the curator.
>>2150787
>that penis bone on the dog
>>2150809
Does the curator happen to take cash money in return for a couple of fossils in storage?
Just a question.
>>2150999
wow, that looks like something 3d-printed
>>2150787
Its these guys.
>>2150969
I wish.
>>2150787
>love beyond death
>>2143263
didn't know gorilla arm bones twist like that. Neat!
>>2151863
Yours do too.
>>2151865
oh shit what... I gotta pay more attention to my bones
>>2143318
also we have some of the most intelligent animals yet, thats not just including humans, dinosaurs and I would also presume earlier mammals weren't to bright. If you wanna see how amazing modern adaptions look into spiders compared to the more primitive tarantula.
>>2143616
for some reason it always surprises me when I.m reminded frogs have skeletons, I mean they obviously do and I've always known that but there just so weird and squishy it still surprises me.
>>2150894
>tfw humans no longer have baculums
where did we go wrong
>>2153462
well lacking it makes it almost impossible for diseased or scared men to reproduce.
which is an advantage to everyone but the man whose dick don't work.
Viagra ruined that.
Why do bird skulls look so happy and friendly?
heres one, got another that looks straight out of dark crystal
Dinosaurs that eat solely fish that aren't spinosaurus always facinated me
>>2144025
How do they figure out bite force? Seems cool they can do that
These two glorious (prehistoric) land-whales
>>2153864
your mom is a glorious, prehistoric landwhale
>>2143392
blog posts.
so this is where all the normalfags post on 4chin...
>>2143744
>>2153866
if that were true my mom evolves into the smartest family of animals on this earth. fuck primates cetaceans are better.
Three tiny spooks.
>>2154730
>>2153467
Imagine what it would be like if humans do have one, you will always look hard but have trouble getting pants.
>>2153546
I highly doubt any spinosaurid solely ate fish.
Not even modern day herons, cranes, storks, ect.... Soley eay fish even though thats what they specialize in
>>2145032
Aye
>>2153491
kelenken looks pretty scary to me
>>2153643
they take the skull to CT scan, then they remake muscules attached to it and finnaly they measure the max preassure they could make with that muscules and bone fracture. At least that's what i know correct me if needed thanks.
>>2150748
EVOLUTION YOU CRAZY NIGGA
>>2150683
Oh, so Dragons ARE real!?
>>2153867
>Yeah, about that...
>Its strong forelimbs, retracting claws, and incredibly powerful jaws mean it may have been possible for Thylacoleo to climb trees and perhaps to carry carcasses to keep the kill for itself
Holy shit I assumed they were limitated by weight since they were heavier than leopards
Confirmed,Thylacoleo is the official dropbear
>>2148476
>100-130kg's
>too big to climb trees
Who came up with that? You guys realize Bears are much bigger and climb trees perfectly fine right?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dPnp3fLOER8
That's with their skeletal structure being less equipped for the task than a Thylacoleo.
>>2159415
>>2159416
kek
that's an ugly sculpture right there
>>2156835
They don't do anything nearly that convoluted and expensive.
They tie fish to a slab of plastic.
