On my way back home from school, I found an alive bird on the floor, desperately trying to fly. I quickly run home and grab some paper and pick it up noticing it's leg is broke. How do I take care of this bird until we take it to a vet
>Pic related, is picture of bird on my desk
Put it somewhere dark and quiet or it could die from stress.
Try to call a wildlife rehab near you.
Don't be surprised if it doesn't make it, it could have been hit and has internal injuries.
it's probably not going to make it

Put it in a dark box, poke holes in it, it's definitely stressed as fuck. It might die on you unrelated to its injury just because it's freaking out.

Tbqh, kill it if you have no intention of caring for it yourself for the rest of its life.

Is it dead now? If not then how is it?
Grab a shovel, lay it on its belly then cut its head off. Absolutely painless I promise you

you're giving me nightmares
damn a lot of people on this board find injured birds.

could be because there are a lot of fledglings on the ground now?

Summer's hitting, so more birds are out which means more chances of seeing birds hit by cars/injured by cats, and since there are SO MANY people using 4chan, you'll see a lot of these threads for a good few months.
I still wish we could get some kind of sticky even though it's a slow board, but the mods never answer emails.
I'll try again this year, but I'm not keeping my hopes up.

when I lived in upstate NY we found them all the time. we even performed a jury rigged surgery on a pigeons wing and set up an outdoor cage for him. he actually got better and would fly away during the day and come back during the night or to eat.
since I moved I haven't seen a single harmed birdoo yet. which I suppose is a good thing.

I think a 'don't pick up fledglings' type of sticky is reasonable, since it always always happens.
