Can I get a link or two on where I can get one of these? Should I look somewhere that isn't amazon?

Find someone locally that makes bonsai. Don't order one online to be shipped.
Also, don't buy some shitty ficus stump or a Japanese garden juniper in a bonsai pot without training. Those are Malsai.
I am growing a (Horse-chestnu) Aesculus hippocastanum.
It's about 30 cm and and a bit thick already, it's about 4 years old grown from seed.
I am wondering how I could stimulate branch growth? will there eventually start growing branches lower down the trunk or not?

Is that a dog guarding a mariowana

Best way is to remove smaller branches forcing it to grow more leaves and small twiggy branches from the larger ones. They will then get thicker and you can grow back the smaller ones later.

Why is the image turned sideways?
>start bonsai when you're 20
>wont look good until you're 50
I never got this hobby.
Also, it kind of rubs me funny. Obviously plants don't have feelings, but it always reminds me of chinese foot binding.

seeing the trunk has grown thicker gives me good feelings

Don't mean to be an ass, but that wiring is a fucking mess. Be careful, it will dig in a lot earlier and snap a lot easier.

I thought I recgonized those wrinkles! We own a shar pei ourselves.
Also, wonderful bonsai.

Not that anon, but some smartphones aren't that smart.
I'd love bonsai, but they are so needy, and Texas summers will murder anything in a pot that small.
I like bonsai.
