Cheetahs are a doomed species. Some event bottlenecked their population absurdly low a few millennia ago, so their genetic diversity really thinned out. As a result, all of them today are extremely inbred. The crooked tail most have is a symptom of this inbreeding, as are many other health problems. Sure, they're losing territory to human action, but they're fucked. Unsustainable. They'll just get more fucked up until the last ones starve, unable to feed themselves.
Elephant mating doesn't involve actual vaginal penetration. Female elephants just have so many outer skin folds and the male's penis doesn't go far enough to break the hymen. Just shoots a strong jet or something.

I never thought I'd say it, but I think domestication could just save the species. Cheetahs have already shown to be quite receptive to life with humans, when raised from birth, they behave much like housecats. It wouldn't take as many generations to domesticate them as it would bobcats or panthers. They aren't as heavy, strong, or ferocious as Lions and Tigers, and they only get about as big as a large dog.
So, maybe 100+ years in the future... pet cheetahs?

Cheetahs first evolved in NORTH AMERICA. And then during the Ice Age migrated across the land bridge, through Russia, and down into Africa.
They literally survived through the Ice Age and who knows how many other seriously colossal environmental changes across the thousands upon thousands of years they have existed.
They not doomed, compared to all the other species that went extinct during and after the Ice Age, the cheetah we know today is a fucking boss and is winning.

I don't think cheetahs are doomed there are two main theories for american cheetahs and modern cheetahs
