Came across this yesterday, but didn't try to catch it for fear of disease. What are the chances of getting something from armadillos?

Armadillos are one of the only animals human can get leprosy from. I'd never touch one with my bear hands

close to zero if you don't touch or eat them.
the odds go up considerably otherwise.

This.
It's also worth mentioning you probably wouldnt get it from touching one anyway, and that leprosy isn't even very dangerous anymore because of modern medicine. Used to be dangerous, but now it's right there with black plague in the "horrifying diseases that aren't dangerous anymore" crowd.

How about not trying to catch it because it's a god damn wild animal and should be left alone?
Call a conservationist

All the areas where armadills live have increaced incidence of leprosy.
Now you might call this a correlation not causation fallacy... but maybe the armadills carry the desese.
