Just got finished building this terrarium for my beardie and he's in love! Had him in a small ter for a while due to financial troubles but after months he's finally happy. Just thought I should share this happy beardie

Also, General enclosure thread
Post your viv/terrarium/aquarium for your creatures
>>
And for those curious,

-looking to move his fixture into the tank just need hinges

-contemplating getting another basking light due to the size of the terrarium idk what do you guys think?
>>
> what do you guys think?
I've never kept beardies so I don't know much but the viv looks a tad sparse. Like a couple more pieces of decorative terrain would go a long way. Maybe another hide or two? The tile substrate seems like a great idea though
>>
>>2110074
Oh yeah forgot to mention just finished it yesterday

Definitely looking to add decor but I just wanted to move him out of his small enclosure immediately. Poor thing was looking so cramped :/ main issue was the basking rock which is an absolute need since the terrarium is so tall

And yeah tile is slate! I'd heard good things and looks good too

This is for my one spoiled water dragon.... Just one...

Best part is she still prefers to sleep on my bed's headboard.
>>
>>2110083
lol! Very nice
Do you have pics of your water dragon on hand by any chance?
>>
>>2110083
Gah, first half of my comment didn't post..

Looks good for him right now, but he may need somethung bigger as time progresses or if he's acting crapped. Ya know, like snout rubbing in the glass and such. But looks good to me! He's got a hot spot and a few hiding spots.

If youre in a pinch though, do what I did and make your own! Above cost me $60 to make in back college. Far better air circulation, and in some places humidity. Im just cautious of tanks because they get such stale air if they're in a corner you know. Sorry for ranting haha

Had this for about half a year now for my 2 baby crested geckos
Any recommendations?
>>
>>2110073
I'm not sure if it goes for all reptiles, but I believe it's best to also leave a cool spot in the terrarium, so the reptile has someplace to cool down. looking at your setup I don't think it would be a good idea to add another light
>>
>>2110335
That looks great
>>
>>2110335

Tank looks good. You shouldn't be feeding mealworms to cresties though. Dubia roaches and phoenix worms seem to work best for them, but no need to offer live prey more than once a week/couple weeks.

Is this a tank renovation thread? Pic related is the background im putting together for my 30x20x12 tank.

Right now i have 7 hissing cockroaches and want to make their tank real nice, with plants and such. I'm planning on attaching airplants to the crevices in the background and planting some orchids or bromeliads in the corkwood stumps. I have soil, isopods and springtails coming in the mail so there will be some bioactive shit going on too.

Anyone else on here have a planted vivarium?

>>2110335
Nice tank, I see one of your geckos enjoys the most impractical spots in your terrarium lol.

How big are they, and are they full grown? How much vertical space do you have?

I really want to get a crested but my tank i stated above is soon turning into 15 usable vertical inches from the 20 it was before. That and i have the hissing cockroaches in there already. I know rule of thumb is to never mix species but how do you guys think a gecko and a few roaches would interact? Roaches don't feed on live tissue, wont even eat the plants i put in there. They also spend most their time hidden and on the ground, under wood and shit. I'm kinda building my setup with the idea of putting a gecko in there evauntually but would feel bad if i made it stressed.

Uhhh does anyone want to buy a 2 dollar adult madagascar hissing cockroach, stick it in their crested gecko tank and tell me how they interact?

I love it, this is my goal. I'm the guy who posted above you, how long have you had this setup like this? Which soil did you use?
>>
>>2111064
I made it on April 3rd so not even a month yet. The soil I used was some form of eco earth. I haven't seen it online but while I was working at a pet shop this stuff came it. It was called jungle floor or something but it was basically already hydrated eco earth with nutrients for plants
>>
>>2111056

That is a fantastic tank. Well done!
>>
>>2111070
thank you!
>>2111064
Also thank you too!

I was so happy to see another enclosure thread made, I just wish they got more traffic
>>
>>2110969
I will try to get my hands on some dubia roaches or phoenix worms then.
I do have the pangea mix but I have a problem with getting them interested into it. Most of the time I have to hand feed it to them (not forcing them but just rubbing some on their nose until they lick the spoon). Any idea how I can train them to eat the pangea mix?
>>
>>2111067
Looks like it's doing well, i have a pink quill bromeliad too, its hanging out in my temporary set up, i stuck it in a cork round and it started to flower about 2 months after getting it. They are pretty neat looking when they flower.

Once i get my setup going ill start a vivarium specific thread. I hope to see you there :)
>>
>>2111089

maybe try a different flavor of the pangea mix or try Repashy cgd, both the normal kind and the 'classic'. Recommend Pangea Fruit Mix w/ Insects, even my picky eaters devour that stuff.

you can also mix a little bit of mashed fruit in to the Pangea. Mango, papaya, and grapes seem to get good feedings responses.

They are actually Astyanax, not tadpoles. I dropped them there to avoid Dengue fever mosquitoes from spawning in my neighbourhood
>>
>>2110335

Looks pretty good for fake plants, but would be a lot cooler if you re-did it will real ones. Good species that work well for tropical vivs would be pothos, philodendron, bromeliads, anthurium, etc

Here's my first vivarium I made, just finished it a couple weeks ago. Planning to put bumblebee arrow frogs (dendrobates leucomelas) in there. I'm really happy with it, and I even had some small orange mushrooms pop up the other day.

Second vivarium, also finished recently. All live plants - marble queen pothos, golden pothos, anthurium and something else I don't recognize. You can see my red eyed tree frog sleeping on an anthurium leaf in the front.

Cool vivs! Took me a second to find the frog. Felt dumb when it is right there front and center. That's good camoflage.

so like... does your dragon ever try to jump off that thing there?

I don't know if my beardie is retarded or what but she starts her day off the same way every day by falling off her log sideways. She doesn't jump or brace herself but she just sorta... rolls a bit and falls right off and makes a loud crashing noise when she hits the sand. It's not a long, about 6 inches, but it's gotta hurt a little bit..

Her name is Miss Daisy. Pic Related.
>>
>>2112774
I also want to ask a question about these guys.

What does it mean when their beards goes from a normal midtone color to a bright rainbow? I was told Miss Daisy was a girl but I have never known female lizards to have colorful throats.

ha, thanks. I worked hard on that diagram.

It's not my bearded dragoin. I am watching her for my mom so all her antics are new to me. I have seriously never seen an animal get so fucking excited when it sees a clear bag. It can be any bag really. She thinks there are crickets in it and stars like... doing pushups and bobbing around and shaking with excitement. She fucking loves crickets.

Also, she hates her reflection. pic related.

How do you manage to have a free roaming reptile like that? I feel like it would get lost or slip away considering it isn't that big
>>
>>2115566
not the guy you replied to but...

A couple things about iguana's. They are very chill the grand majority of the time and get fucking huge. If you don't have a lot of clutter they are very easy to keep track of. They don't hide like most lizards and critters do and will most likely chill around.

And here is the HUGE FUCKING DEAL on why an iguana is a good lizard pet guy you can let wonder around. They will always shit in the same spot just like a cat. Wherever they first poop is where they will forever poop.

If you handle them daily ever since they will little then they will be incredibly friendly and awesome. If you neglect them then they will turn grumpy as fuck and get hostile. Iguana's are incredibly fast when they feel threatened and their tail can be used as a whip and will break skin easily. Like, stitches break skin. The end part of their tail isn't "living" and is hardened to make the whip work better.

I had an iguana once and let him run around all the time. I named him Jester. He was a runt and very small for his species. Sadly he got a tumor that was cancerous and he died :(
>>
>>2117047
I can second this. Several years back I had an iguana. We had a "library" room and let the iguana have the run of the room. He had an open 80gal terrarium with the proper basking area for basking (and where he would shit) and fed him out in the room....otherwise he would go all over the room, on top of the bookshelves, or the chair, he would even climb on me when I was using the computer. He was about 6 feet long from tip to tail. He also liked to bask on top of the old CRT monitor, and knew that when someone came in to the computer, that it was time to go there and bask...he would just lay on top of the monitor while i was working away on the computer.
