I have 3 mongolian gerbils, 3 snakes (including a 7' long Emerald Tree Boa), 2 giant breed dogs (150 & 190lbs), one old weather-beaten cat, and other smaller stuff like geckos and a dragon.
I've been bit 3 times by the snake (all were my fault, to be fair to the snake) and that snake has fangs that make me question my manhood.
Let me tell you, the worst pain I've ever felt from a bite - the only one that had me screaming all sorts of foul language - was when I had to break up a fight between 2 gerbils. One of them was in-the-zone and bit me between my thumb and pointer finger on that skin flap. And held it. For about 10 seconds. I was panicked and trying to hand off the other gerbil to my wife so I could pry that little shit off ... dear god, it hurt so bad. It didn't heal for 2 weeks. Visibly. The spot was sore for a month whenever I wiggled my fingers.

However my sister had a hamster that was halfway nice growing up. Liked to sit in your sleeve if you wore a long sleeved shirt. Never bit me except once when I spooked her while she was sleeping. All the others she had except that one she had were dicks.

I had a blue fawn Campbell's that would sit on my shoulder and play with my hair. I guess he wasn't the cutest to look at, but his mannerisms were great.
His mother was an opal that would run up my sleeves and nestle in my cleavage. She'd actually get excited when I came home, because she loved being picked up.
Half the hamsters I've had were terrible, but the good ones were super sweet.

One of my biggest reasons for visiting /an/ is to see how others love their animal friends so much as to post their pics for the whole world to see.
I think it shows how loved and special they are, that someone shares them and shows the whole world. Those are lucky animals.
This is not mine; I can't have pets. But it belonged to someone here once who posted videos of their hamster, and its habitat was full of love.
