Why is the cutest dog breed also the most difficult? Id love a shibe but after all the research ive done I cant justify ever getting one :(
>>2109111
Get a cat instead.
I saw one for the first time ever in the dog park the other day. It was wearing a stupid fucking jacket too. I didn't realise how small they were! In pictures they look the size of normal dog.
Unless it was cross, didn't look like it.
>>2109118
they're small doges
Shibas are cool, they are just "retarded goofs", but you can get them to behave well, just like a German Spitz, Akita or a really pissed off Chihuahua, all energetic breeds.
Had the cutest Shiba, sent him to live with the in-laws in Mississippi because he was getting old, and I wanted him to have a quieter life than here in NYC. He has a yard and constant dog and human company now.
I think they're great dogs. Only downside is the constant shedding of hair. They blow out their coats twice a year, and holy shit-- it gets EVERYWHERE.

Shibas aren't that cute
We had a 15 month old Shiba at the shelter I volunteer at. He was high energy and slow to learn commands but no more difficult to handle than the other dogs we had. Pic related is him...he got adopted in about a week obviously
>>2109285
I'm an idiot. Here he is
>>2109285
glad to hear we got adopted. we've had a few shibas at ours, and they were dicks honestly, one of them left a nice scar on my right hand from trying to vaccinate him. and they haven't gotten adopted very quickly unless they had the same coat color as doge
>>2109301
Ouch, that sucks. My shelter has a really high turnover rate as it is but of course young purebreds get adopted immediately. His applications closed in 9 minutes lol. He was EXTREMELY nippy when playing..I wish I had the pictures of my arm still. It looked like I had gangrene coupled with a heroin addiction from all the brushing and little teeth marks

I had multiple Shiva growing up. They pick owners. And they aren't like western breeds, they are aloof most of the time, but they're great.
Apparently they're the cats of dogs.
Probably also the reason why they're so successful on the intertubes.

>Why is the cutest dog breed also the most difficult?
What, Samoyeds? They're not that bad.
>>2109166
I have yet to have that experience, and I'm going on four years with mine now. He only sheds once per year, in the springtime, and not much in between.
He is a very efficient dog.
Or perhaps people do find they shed a lot. I live with a German Shedder and my view of "shedding a lot" might be skewed.

>multiple Shiva
>A specific breed is the cutest
You've clearly never had a dog. If you did you'd realize that your dog is the cutest, regardless of breed.
>>2109287
That is one smug looking doge
>>2109111
These dogs are just as violent as pitbulls.
>>2111660
Are you sure you're not thinking about Akitas?
Fuck off weeb trash
>>2109166
>the constant shedding of hair
>Cat passes away
>Really want another one thats completely different than her
>Family wants another dog so ours doesnt get lonely during the day
So is a shiba a bad idea?
>>2111790
You could make that dog a sweater out of his own hair
>>2109111
>faggot memer being BTFO by real life
kek
I have a Shiba - GSD. We adopted her at two years old and we've had her going on six years now. Wonderful dog but very difficult to train early on. Kind of behaves like a cat in that she wants to be left alone for much of the day and will climb furniture. Loves to play and sheds constantly. I live in a world of fur.

Pic is my dogo
>>2109667
Shiva is a spook
>>2113502
>Shiba-GSD
>Shibas are 20 pounds
>German Shepherds are 70 pounds
H-how?
>>2109111
they're expensive as fuck where I live, breh I'm not giving 1500 dollars for a fucking dog
>>2109333
Can you elaborate? How are western breeds "different"? I thought it all comes down to animal's personality.
My neighbour has one that is off the leash all year between their home and the store and the park. I have never seen him on a leash. Hes usually chilling out in the street all summer long, just sleeping on the steps not caring about people or dogs or cars. The owner is like a semi alcoholic guy, drinks beer every day and paints pictures. When he is at the pub in our street, the shiba hangs out in the yard and sometimes walks over to a little park by the river to look at the ducks and sleep on the grass.
Their relationship led me to believe that shibas were relaxed companion dogs. I always wanted a dog like that, that would be calm enough to just hang out and be my little buddy without leashes or commands, but I realize its not normal and especially so for shibas.
>>2113507
Looks like a generic mutt desu
>>2113626
i dunno man it's weird becuase all you ever hear is about how hard shibas are
there's a shiba in my apartment complex and the owner is some indian guy who stands outside talking on the phone a lot, presumably back to india. and the shibe always just sits in the grass 100% calm to everything, or he walks around and chews on sticks and stuff. it's like the calmest dog i've ever seen
>>2113626
>>2113659
It's not that they are hard, it's that they are extremely counter-intuitive to train compared to other dogs. Their natural instincts are very strong and will always get the upper hand in stressing situations.
GF has one, she's a cute lil' fucker (pic related)
Akitas are the best Japanese dog desu senpai. Fiercly loyal and fantastic guard dogs
>>2113716
>Akita
A giant shibe with the opposite personality
Careful though, they are extremely dog aggressive
>>2113559
Same way I got my pic related GSD-JRT mix. Dogs fuck, they don't care about size or how bad their poor pups will turn out. My poor guy runs really wonky because he has the long front legs of the GSD and the short back legs of the JRT
>>2113610
That's a normal price for a well bred doggo. Stop going to bybs for your cancer-dogs
>>2113717
>extremely dog aggressive
if you raise them with dogs they are fine. 99% of all dog problems can be solved with proper socialization
>>2113710
Great pic. There are times where you'll see mine mulling over a command. They hear you, they understand the command... but they also consider their options.
