Need help with my doggo, anons.

I have a corgi. Guy is the best, but has a few probles. First of all the boy is extremely afraid of traffic, and even more of garbage trucks.

Sometimes and he starts being aggresive towards other male doggos. Usually those castrated he leaves alone. I'm sure it is connected to his anxiety, he gets exponentially more aggresive while scared.

This partially ruins his (and mine) life - he's scared shitless half of the time he's out and can't make friends with other doggos.

Pic realted, that's the guy.

Halp, /an/. You're my only hope

tl;dr;

My dog is scared and aggresive towards males.

sorry for the typos, my keyboards is fucked.

He's such a happy guy, while not tortured by his fears.

Also, it might be worth noting, he was attacked by a german shepherd when he was little. No injuries, but it might have started then.

Bump.

Also doggo is obedient and loves people. Knows many commands and tricks.
>>
>>2095870
Nice photo
>>
Is he castrated?
>>
>>2095880
Nope. Wife plans to take him to the shows.
>>
Just more interaction is needed. Eventually he will understand they arent spooky. Being bitten by a shepard may last though. You should be especially be cautious around female shepards anyway.
>>
>>2095884
That's why he won't accept other non-castrated males.
>>
>>2095886
Yep, he is very anxious of shepherds, even females.

I might elaborate a bit more about his behaviour.

He is REALLY curious about other dogs. He want's to rush toward every dog he sees and actually proceeds to sniff the butt.
But sadly often after sniffing he pauses, gets stiff, gives a glance... and attacks very fast.

I don't see a pattern (beside shepherd) which males trigger him, becase he tolerates some uncastrated dogs. But sometimes even humble little ones get some, without any visible hostility signals (at least for me). It's really depressing.
>>
>>2095888
Somehow other uncastastrated dogs have fun with each other.

Once we've been to the park and 4 dogs have been running together, all males. At least 2 of them were uncastrated, i saw the balls (possible young).

Those guys seemed to have fun, but my buddy didn't like them at all. They didn't act aggresively but rather curiously, still he attacked. They even didn't fight back, just run away to have more fun.

cute pupper.
how is /an/ your only hope though, have you tried any youtube tutorials on overcoming fears?
whatever you do, don't punish your dog for his reactions, since it's fear-aggression and you'll only make him feel less safe.
>>
>>2095891
Well, that was exaggeration. I tried few things without much success. Especially Ceasar Millan methods don't sem to work.

Just trying to find more information, thats. all.
>>
>>2095889
He bit? Leaving a wound?
Letting a aggresive tendency dog off leash in the park?
>>
>>2095910
Well, he bit or missed, not sure, No wound surely, more of a show I think. He always stops when I tell him to do it loud.

He was on leash, other dogs came to check him out.
>>
>>2095869
you won't be able to train the dog aggression out of your dog, you have to settle for just enriching him however you can.

dog wasn't socialized enough early, and of course, purebred little fuck with purebred little problems.
>>
>>2095923
Welp, we socialized him with dogs since he got all his vaccinations. He didn't show any signs of aggresion before puberty.
>>
>>2095928
you are being an irresponsible owner and decreasing the quality of your dog's life by not neutering. that is clearly the solution to the problem but your wife is more focused on showing (ie hating) animals.
>>
>>2095932
What the kennel shows have to do with hating animals?

Maybe the neutering is the solution. I considered it, but I also been said many times it doesn't change the behaviour. You have any proof for the opposite?
>>
If your dog is aggressive and easily scared, he will not do well at the shows. You need a calm, composed dog for that.
>>
>>2095936
You DO know that you don't have to do a full castration, right? You can just get your dog a vasectomy to avoid negative physical/emotional changes due to hormones.
>>
>>2095948
Yes, but will it help? It surely won't fix the anxiety tho.
>>
>>2095945
Fair point. My girl is really into that, she's training with him a lot. It's probably beyond talking her out of it, at least before she tries her first show this month. If anything goes wrong it will be easier to convince her it's not for him.
>>
>>2095936
>I considered it, but I also been said many times it doesn't change the behaviour. You have any proof for the opposite?

the consensus of almost all vets?

yeah it may have been said "many times" that neutering doesnt change bheavior, that doesnt change the fact that practically any vet will tell you to neuter your dog in this situation.

proof? the fucking change in hormones is proof. it's called biology bro, textbooks can prove it to you, pick one up.
>>
>>2095961
will look into that, tnx
>>
>>2095955

not who you responded to but

If he's aggressive in public how does your girlfriend think that'll translate to a situation with plenty of other dogs around
>>
>>2095909
cesar milan is the last person on earth you should refer to for countering anxiety. i'm not surprised at all it didn't work. for the sake of your puppo please don't use his techniques in future.
>>
You wont have much luck showing him if he's unsettled with other males in the show ring - always big faults. Best thing to do is take him to obedience classes where trainers will help socialise/train him. My boy was shit scared of dogs and I poured hours and hours into socialising, training & counter conditioning - fast forward to now hes the friendliest pup in town, not neutered either.
>>
Go see a veterinary behaviorist.
>>
>>2095869
i wish my dog was afraid of traffic
nigga has no fear and i worry for him
>>
>>2095869
>My dog is scared and aggresive towards males.
So it's a feminist dog?
>>
He also shouldn't be bred with anxiety and aggressive issues if that was in your plans.
>>
>>2096009
This.

Op since you guys are thinking of showing then it shouldn't be too hard for you to talk to some other dog people (at the shows) and find out who some good trainers are near you. I would really recommend getting him into some classes as soon as you can, check out dog trainer blogs, and have a serious talk with your girlfriend and just be upfront about your concerns. If he freaks out bad the first time in a show, that's going to put her back months, possibly years, to show again until you can help him get over his fears.

Also, most pups go through a fear stage around a year old and it Will usually be out of there system within the next few months to a year as they grow up and chill out. Just keep working with him, try to pull him out of situations when you first start seeing stress. Tell other people that you're working with him and to please hold their dogs back a bit till he calms.
>>
Muzzle your dog and bring him to all of the dog parks every chance you get. Flood him with other dogs until it becomes part of life to be around others and they stop being something to be apprehensive about
