Well, i caught a healthy bat
can i keep it or its going to die 100%?
>>
Sigh.....

Just put it back dipshit
>>
>>2095847
Guess you have to talk me into that, because since i'm a dipshit I'm going to follow my desires and keep it
>>
The only bats that do well in captivity are fruit bats, and vampires. Yours isn't either and needs to be released.

Hopefully you're a troll, but if not enjoy your dead bat and/or dying from rabies I guess.
>>
>>2095851
>Hopefully you're a troll
What's with this needlessly aggressive attitude? you got triggered by the white socks or something? holy shit
>>
>>2095845
You could never feed it right or enough bugs to keep it from dying.
>>
>>2095852
>>2095849
>>2095845
Why would someone ever get the idea to take a flying animal which requires large areas, and then force it to live the rest of its life in a cramped space just so you can have a "unique pet"?

Bats are NOT pets. please do not disturb them by trying to catch them. Willingly trying to catch any wild animal that you're not planning to eat is also not recommended. This isn't Pokemon.
>>
>>2095852
Is making an offhand remark the definition of being triggered now?

Point still stands though, have fun with your dead bat and also possibly dying of rabies.
>>
>>2095858
I already successfully kept and fed frogs, spiders and mantises
>>2095860
I didn't climb a tree to grab it, it was lying in the middle of the Street paralyzed
the other option was leaving it there to be ironed by a car
i didn't think about the space though, guess you're right about that. my apartment doesn't really have much airspace
>why
because destiny gave me this wonderfully gift and it would be a waste to refuse it
>>
You probably should give it to a wildlife sanctuary to be rehabilitated. If you found it in the middle of the street, it's not unlikely to be less healthy than you think. Bats don't make great pets, they need a lot of space and shit everywhere. It's best for the bat, and probably you, if you hand him over to someone that can make sure he's healthy.
>>
>>2095866
He flies perfectly, later when its dark and there's less traffic and people around I'll release it where i found it
seems like the only thing to do. if something like a leash for bats don't exist, that is
>>
>>2095865
Totally different. A bat flying around eats like as much as 1000 tiny flying insects every HOUR.
>>
>>2095872
I can, uh
buy three kilos of live bait and let it become flies inside my house
three kilos a week, i guess
>>

1 MB, 2560x1440
Anyway, why the hell they have teeth so big if they eat small bugs like mosquitoes?
>>
>>2095849
then why make a thread for advice asking if you should keep it?

call a wildlife sanctuary so it can get the proper care. saving the animal doesn't mean shit if it's going to live a miserable life in a tiny apartment.
>>
>>2095895
You're late dude, i settled already for releasing it
>>
So I want to know, when you first found this bat and got it out of the road what were you thinking?

Was your immediate thought to just take it to safety or did it lean more towards how can I keep this animal?

Did the idea of animal control or a wildlife sanctuary not pop in your mind at all, or did it briefly but was soon pushed aside by your desire to try and keep it?

Im really not trying to be a dick Im just interested in what your thought process was in your decision making.
>>
>>2095922
Is this some kind of local bait or are you legit asking me what was my thought process?
are you conducting some online behavioral data investigation or you're just autistic?
>>
>>2095922
Well anyway, first action was evalutation of survivability via superficial examination and physical integrity
Then brnging it to safety, meaning i picked it up and entered the nearest vet, half km from there.
since it started flying perfectly inside the vet ambulatory, i shoved it in a box with the doctor benediction and walked home
Sure, the veterinary wanted. to alert the local animali welfare and whatnot, but since it was fine and healthy i just promised i would had brought back where i found it
Then i started checking if it was possible to keep it as pet, which is not
i played with it for an hour or so, taking measures, observing the observable and taking pictures
satisfied?
>>
>>2095895
I guess what he did was a sarcastic comeback for being called "dipshit". Pretty understandable IMO.

Since we are talking about bats here. Is it possible to make nests for bats. Something like birdhouse but for bats? If yes, I'll be definetily doing it once I have house with big enough yard.

>>

>>
>>2096118
Well thanks
>>
>>2096075
doctors don't check for rabies.

by the time they can check for it you're already dead.
>>
>>2095845
so you found a "healthy" bat paralyzed in the street?

and thought it would be fun to let it bite you?

I'm nominating you for a Darwin Award when you die.
>>
>>2096078
It would still be safer to get a rabies shot real quick.
>>
>>2096147
Fine mom, tomorrow i'll go see a doctor.
seriously, how comes that are you all so spooked by getting something from animal bite? I've seen a doctor only when i got bitten by a viper and that time a german sheperd chewed my left calf. its even more surprising considering you have not-so-bright individuals like >>2096143.
no offense or irony intended, just i'm pretty surprised by this "safety first" attitude
>>
>>2095934

Well, I guess I'm kinda satisfied. Although I still dont understand why yoi thought a motionless bat in the street in the daylight was healthy just because it could fly and and in your opinion didnt appear hurt, and then preceded to let it bite you and risk transmission of rabies and other diseases still doesnt make all that much sense to me.
>>
>>2096168
Are you really expecting me to type what happened second by second? the bat had obviously being knocked off by something since its tail was broken and slightly bleeding, I've been bitten trying to catch it inside the vet ambulatory, where it was flying around, and i guess if there was some risk of contamination he would had suggested a shot himself
Plus, if you some of you had the decency to check how rabies work, i shouldn't be pointing now that infection happens ONLY AND EXCLUSIVELY with soft tissue contact. and last, no one even asked me where i am, and if there's something indicative about this kind of risk is the intetrval between registered cases
There is a really fucking thick layer of autism here, holy shit
>>
Fucking asshole. Call a bat sanctuary instead of torturing the poor thing.
>>
>>2096179
Ok its settled, you guys can't read.
>>
WHAT THE FUCK MAN RELEASE IT
>>
>>2096175
we're just giving you friendly advice, dipshit.

most of us would probably actually prefer it if you talk yourself into denial and then die.
>>
>>2096078
Bat teeth are so small and sharp they can pierce the skin without it being noticable. Bats are also EXTREMELY well known for carrying rabies.

You know what rabies does right? It has a 100% fatality rate. It's fixable if you get seen soon enough, but if you wait long enough that you start showing any kind of symptoms you are 100% going to die and there absolutely nothing any sort of doctor can do.

tl;dr rabies is horrifying and not something to fuck around with
>>
>>2096078
holy shit handling a bat is fucking psychotic, enjoy your rabies.

I love how your story has gone from completly healthy bat to bat bloody and busted. Maybe its your great ability to convey a story with proper detail thats confusing everyone in this thread as well.

Your right though, maybe you live in one of those countries that has successfully eradicated rabies (although not the other multiple dieseases bats can carry) and even if you didnt the relative risk of you contracting rabies is very slim.

Where do you live, actually? Some backwoods yokel ghetto? The fact that a place of business would open them up to a potential lawsuit from your ignorant ass makes me think no one around you knows any better.
