What kind of birds/parrots do you own?
Post a pic if you want.
I own a cockatiel (bird pictured below)
Cockatiels are lovely. I'd love to have one but I'd rather not risk it with my caique. Pic related, this is her being smug after murdering my t-shirt.
My three lovely birbs.
Their favorite things include pooping on the wall and happily screaming at each other when the sun comes up.

>happily screaming at each other
When I have the time and space I'd love to have a pair of talking birds again. I just love listening to their gibberish little 'conversations' and duets.

>Does this look like the face of mercy human?
my cheeky lad
>tfw he keeps fucking my head
His face when the other two bicker.

Ours always had sex to a music stand while looking himself in the mirror. You could have done literally anything to him while he was running his bird dick on the music stand, he was too invested in it
So lewd.

My bird Shorty
>His tail feathers weren't fully grown yet
>Got him in 7th grade
>Didn't know they could grow back, I thought they were clipped for good
>Thusly he was named Shorty
>The fucker unties My grandmas shoes to prevent her from leaving him
Cockatiels are the cutest

Sorry to spam. I'm just wondering if there are any other caique owners on /an/?
This is mine again. She jammed herself into this space and had a birdnap.
This is my bird. I love her so very much ;_;
She loves to eat, get pet, and shower dance in hair.

Gotta love Caiques!
There are my two Cookie (left) and Muffin (right). I only let them sleep together one or two times per week. I keep them flighted and have tons of fun and shenanigans with them every day.
They are both one and a half years old and Muffin is a girl and Cookie is a boy, Muffin has lost the black on her head now this picture is a year old.
Here's another one of them before they got woken up by me taking pictures. These pictures were very hard to take cause it was very dark in the room (used 0.3 second exposure time handheld f/1.8 1600ISO).
I love my Caiques so much I wouldn't trade them for the world <3

and that adorable "just woken up" face with not completely open eyes..
Funnily enough, for some crazy unknown reason Muffin always sleeps facing forward out of the tunnel and Cookie always sleeps facing backward into the tunnel thus showing his butt. They sleep with those facings regardless whether or not they are sleeping alone or together. Sometimes I'm scared to think of what would have happened if both of them preferred sleeping in the same direction! haha...

Cute lewd birds are the best.

You should definitely not risk it. My Caiques turn into totally wild animals with mindless bloodlust if there is any Cockatiel in sight anywhere near. They also want budgies dead. I tried exposing them to Cockatiels and budgies from a very young age (I got my Caiques as weaned babies) and they're totally fine with Conures but not Cockatiels and Budgies. One of my Budgies' beaks got irreparably torn in half and I had to rush to the vet.
Maybe they're just xenophobic against Australian birds, amirite?
Anyway, older Caiques are in general even less receptive of new bird family members so I wouldn't do it if I were you. Unless you plan strict separation and have time to juggle two separate relationships.

This is a worksafe board...
Also I couldn't help myself since they look so much like a heart
I don't have pictures, but I kinda had a bird forced on me about a week ago.
>want to get more rats, so grab the ferret cage out of the basement of my parent's house
>wash it real clean outside with the hose and leave it open outside to dry
>come back and see there's a bird in there
>do some internet searches and find out it's a standard green cheek conure
>he's really friendly, so I take him and the cage inside
>start looking around for lost bird notices, find a matching poster
>have lady tell me on phone that it's her mom's bird, but her mom released it into the wild because she didn't want it anymore
>she's relieved he's safe, but refuses to come and take him back, tells me to take him to a shelter if I don't want him
I'm not sure what to do because the bird is really friendly and has already started bonding to me, and I like him, but I don't know the first thing about birds and I wanted a trio of rats to start with.
>>2087810
Wait, why'd they put up the poster if they didn't want the bird back?
>>2087810
Keep it. Birds are love. I'm sure he will become a great pet. The poor guy has a very very high chance of dying in the wild he was extremely lucky to be found and taken in by you. Releasing these guys is pretty much killing them.
>>2087818
The daughter told me she knew what a shit thing it was for her mom to do, and wanted to make sure he didn't just die in the wild. I think I gave myself away as someone who at least wouldn't let him go again by agreeing with her hardcore when she said it.
>>2087827
I'm really considering it, but I have to talk to my landlord first. I got permission for the rats, so I don't think it'll be an issue, but I do want to get it in writing again just in case.
>>2087843
Glad you're strongly considering keeping him! Birds are love!
If the thread dies and you have questions about bird keeping feel free to contact me at [email protected]
If you end up not being able to keep him and you're in the KY area I would be willing to give him a home. I'm already waist deep in birds haha..
>>2087852
I'm going to think about it some more. Would you be willing to drive to southwest Virginia to to pick him though?
>>2087854
Possibly, It's a bit far since I'm in western KY but I'm hoping you can keep him. We can worry about that if you end up not being able to keep him.
>>2087810
keep it, it's fate, and green cheeks are great
This was my bird. Just wanted to share my favorite picture of him. RIP Joker
>>2088172
What happened?
>>2087795
They're lovely! I'm guessing they're still quite young, looking at the colours on their heads.
My BHC is fully flighted too, I love the helicopter sound they make when they're flying. She can be a bit hormonal but I adore her.
>>2087800
Oh I know how aggressive they can be to other birds. I've heard of them going after Macaws, the silly things.
It's way too late to introduce her to another species, but at least she gets all of my attention.
