There is no breed with heterochromia. Are you taking about Turkish Angoras? They have slender bodies and long fur. They often have different colored eyes, but it is not a breed standard. Pic isn't mine obviously

Here's Tink, a timid 9-year-old little feral black cat my aunt found under a car hood when Tink was ~1-2 months old. Fantastic little girl, except she's afraid of most new things and people. Unfortunately she's got skin cancer and is on her last paws; that discoloration on her nose is an inoperable tumor.

This is my cat Ghirardelli. She's a chocolate seal point siamese. She was pretty shy, but we spent a lot of time with her and now she's very affectionate.
How do long haired cats compare to short haired cats? I know long haired cats require more grooming but their fluffy coats are really tempting to me. I would love to get something like a Maine Coon but I'm not sure I'm ready for the responsibility of raising kittens as a first time owner.

The longer hair usually leads to more furballs during grooming sessions, so be prepared to do some extra brushing. It might also be a good idea to keep the hair around the butt trimmed, to reduce messes after using the litter box if you notice an issue. Most cats will hate the trimming, but the results are worth it, especially in times when upset stomachs crop up.
I find short haired cats to be easier to keep groomed, especially as a first timer. My best advice is, if you get a kitten, get it used to baths early so it won't freak out in water when it's older. It makes dealing with things like messes and flea outbreaks much easier later in life, and results in less furballs when bathed/brushed every few months.
Pic related is a gift from my manager when he was a kitten. I bathed him every two months or so as a kitten, and now he just kind of chills out in the tub when bath time comes. He'll stick his head into the shower every time I turn it on, but he's never jumped in on his own.

I'm sorry, anon. I'm pretty solitary too, so I end up spending most of my free time with my cats. I can imagine how much she must've meant to you. Eventually the pain will fade away. You'll still miss her, but at least it won't hurt all the time.

Thank you. I'm very grateful for her existence, even if she lived just for 2 years. One day I decided to kill myself and when I entered home, she was there to greet me with the happiest "meow" I could ever hear. Now I can't even consider doing it, not that knowing how it feels to be loved by someone (my cat). In her last moments she was still having her tail while I caressed her, even though she could barely keep her eyes open, in a very miserable state, and pulled all her strenght to meow for a last time.
I wish for all of you to treasure your pets. Cats are amazing, she was my first and I can't think how I managed to survive so far without one. Its pure love, I still can't get over her strong instinct to live.
