Hey /an/, a random puppy I've never seen before started jumping on me and licking me as I went into my house.
I let him in my backyard, what should I do with him?
Pic related is the puppy

Check for a collar and a name or something with an address.
If he lets you, check his ear for a tattoo.
Take him to the vet so they can check for chips and do a check-up.
If the vet finds no chip and nobody comes to claim it, you can come pick him back up later.

He has no tags at all, but I'll check his ear later. I doubt he'd have anything there though

I don't know how common it is abroad, desu. It used to be done on dogs here for identification, but nearly all dogs get chips now.
He's a cutie.
Keep him.
Love him.
Let him sleep on your couch.

Around his lower abdomen, in the general location of his private parts, also look for a tat. It may be very hard to see.
Also is he intact?
Your area may have a Facebook page for lost and found dogs as my town does. If so, post their to try and find the owner. He looks taken care of and is probably missing from a loving home

dont keep him untill you are absolutely sure no one is picking him up.
Some child may have lost his buddy today, and is probably crying.
can you post another pic, preferably a body profile? he looks kind of skinny from that angle but not enough for me to say he's underweight.
if you can see his hip bones and more than one set of ribs, he's underweight, and it's likely he's a stray.
but yes, contact shelters/missing dog places/etc. my local police department will sometimes post found dogs on their facebook page. get him checked for a chip.
Congrats OP, you've been adopted.
