This is my cat Tinker.
She is a 16 year old former feral, my father managed to tame her at the age of 10 and she still remains skittish.
She went missing for a month but she usually does that but the last time she did it she return home with her back leg mangled and was skinny as fuck.
We think she either got trapped and pulled her leg to get free, breaking it in the process and spent week getting home.
We rushed her to the vet who said we could amputate it, set it or put her down. Setting it would not work and my parents considered putting her down but I opted for the amputation after I read about it online.
Operation went fine but she had some problems with waking up from the anesthetic.
When we brought her home my parents were very distressed about the situation, they found her wooziness and lack of leg awful and somehow cruel but I just kept her cozy and company as she recovered.
Shes fine now and my parents are glad we got her leg taken off, the three legs do not bother her and they have actually gotten really strong to make up for the missing one.
She also gained all her weight back.
Shes perfectly healthy, I hope I can get two more years out of her.

cat came in, super sweet but had a major heart defect. had a hole in her heart and likely wasn't even going to live a year without surgery. luckily got a grant from an ASPCA program and the in-state vet school to do a procedure on her to slow the heart failure, now she has easily eight more quality years of her life. her name's Talulah

My cat is partially blind. He can follow movement pretty well and can catch bugs like a motherfucker. He lived the first 6 months of his life on the street with minimal vision, he's hard as fuck.

He learned all of his commands via watching and learning from his sister. He is controlled by Hand signals.
He loves playing with his ball, chasing it, chewing it, sleeping with it. The hardest part is throwing the ball, if he loses sight of the ball when thrown, he cant hear were it lands and just stares at me to throw a ball that i do not have.

Keeping a deformed/amputee/deaf/blind animal is one thing but this is fucking horrible. It's always going to be prone to infections with the exposed tissue and what about it's eyes? It can't blink and I shudder to think the damage that going to happen to the eyes.

They keep her face moist because she can't blink. I think if they let it all dry up and harden, it will probably be painful and may hinder her breathing and muscle movement. If it remains soft and moist, she can still move her mouth and muscles but she won't be able to do it as much if it hardens over into a scar. Scars can be very restrictive.

I was told that, once, my grandma's cat got pregnant and gave birth to four-five kittens... The thing is that they all were born with their stomachs right open, as if their skin hadn'tfinished development and instead there was just a big hole were you could see the babies' internal organs. Of course, granny tried to sew them, but they were doomed from the start. She got really sad about not being able to save them afterwards.

This is my Jawsie... She was named "Jaws" for her broken bottom jaw; we were never sure how it happened but when she came to us she was dirty, skinny, and starving. At the time Mom wasn't interested in taking in another cat... Not until I mentioned the weird way she was eating.. how she couldn't open her mouth...
Jawsie was an angel. She knew how to get your attention.. I'd be at the computer, she'd be sitting nearby.. watching you.. she'd then lean in and boop her nose/mouth against your cheek. She'd let us know she was hungry by picking at our sleeves.
We're not sure how old she was either, but when we found out she couldn't use the litter pan, she started wearing diapers (size 0 - 1) to which she adored. She also had a sweater to help keep her warm. I had to puree her food every day so she could drink it up.
She always slept with me, and set her butt on my face when it was time to change her diaper.
I miss her so much.
This is my froggo. His left eye doesn't grow and so he's blind in one eye. He has terrible depth perception.

That's the whole reason why you can tell if a cat/dog is aggressive or friendly, by watching the fur along their spine and the movement of their tail. It's all subconscious, the same way it's purely subconscious when a human blushes.
The fact that this individual domestic housecat has the mental capacity to realize a tail can be an advantage when it comes to agility and physical movement, then consciously put in the effort to use it on a regular basis, does in fact mean the cat is unusually smart.

My cat has no tail. It's a minor disability, but she has incontinence issues, poor balance, stiff back legs, can't retract her back claws, and I think she has some trouble communicating with the other cat. So she resorts to hissing a lot. Despite all her issues, she's the best animal I've ever had. Perfect temperament for me, and I think she's pretty smart.
