Croc a shit leopard for the win
>>2061299
>Croc a shit
Hah, I get it.
crocodile facts:
crocodile is the biggest land mammal in the world
>>2061130
Also croc is a reptile, not an animal
What's the smallest species of crocodilian that can be kept as a pet?
>>2061404
That would be Cuvier's dwarf caiman (Paleosuchus palpebrosus). Dwarf alligator. They are about 4 feet long and a little under 15 pounds as adults. Also bad idea. But that is the answer to your question.
>>2061448
They are the best gators though
So freaking cute
>>2061448
Why's it a bad idea? 4ft is like no bigger than a tegu.
>>2061588
A tegu is not a gator. They need very large enclosures for their size. Water features, the works. It certainly can be done, you just need a lot of experience and knowledge on how to deal with dangerous animals.
>>2061599
This. Also caiman tend to be bitey as fuck and can really hurt you if they bite and decide to not immediately let go.
Gators are by far the best crocodilian pets, but unfortunately get huge.
>>2061286
Yes
>>2061299
Leopards a shit
crocs know how to have fun
>>2061929
I genuinely hope this animal is having fun.
>>2061938
I bet this one did
>>2061941
>believing for even a moment the animal won't notice a slab of meat hitting its nose
>he reaches for it because he thinks it really is that oblivious
how retarded can you be
>>2061941
Does anyone have that one video where a guy doing the trick where they put the arm in the crocs mouth where the croc bites down immediately and rolls
lets get back to happy and cute
>>2061299
leopard is coward.
only eat baby and small animal like little baby-thief.
strong croc eat big animal, prove strength to females for pleasure of double-penis
-crocodile mom to protect and move her cubs keeps them inside her mounth
-when cubs are in danger they emit a squeaky sound
-cubs know how to hunt and kill since the day of their birth, they are literally natural born killers
-crocodile sounds are weird

No croc thread is complete without Sarcosuchus imperator. All other crocs are inferior.
I've been watching Kamp Kenan videos a lot on youtube to learn about tortoises, which are his specialty, but he also has this video up of a guy who built a greenhouse in Florida specifically to house various species of crocs. It's a great looking facility. here's the video:

Are there any cuter baby's than baby crocodilians?
>>2063104
this imagery gives me strange and dangerous urges
>>2062308
>fish eater superior to Purussasaurus swoleness
>>2063104
cuter than crocodilians? no such thing
Question.
Does the male help in caring for (or at least protecting) the eggs/chicks?
>>2063631
Males do not. How much protection the female provides depends on species. Both crocs and alligators guard their nest until hatching and help the babies to water. Alligator females stay with the babies from months to one year +. Crocodile females, generally, are pretty much done when babies are hatched and escorted to water, but again that varies by specific species.
>>2063104
That's an alligator.
>>2063905
Alligators are also included in order crocodilia. 'Crocodilian' refers to everything in that order.
>>2063631
The males have no qualms with eating the babies for most species
>>2061952
the absolute madcrocodilian
>>2063431
how strong is that flap, anyway?
Is it true that salties will swim from one continent to another?
>>2061938
I genuinely hope you watched the vid. Nobody pushed it into that slide. moron
>>2068429
Ask Steve Irwin
>>2066213

Do it for the money

>>2069928

>>2061955
croc only has one penis you dingus
>>2061952
kek you can practically hear her saying "what the fuck"
>>2068429
They can island hop. Though it probably doesn't happen often. Though it does explain the salt water crocs distribution throught out northern Australia, a lot of south east asia all the way to india
>>2070338
Generally alligators are pretty chill
My family has swam in waters that we know they are in for years. Granted we try to give them fairly wide berth and if they seem interested enough to come close we leave. And as a rule of thumb no one under 16 can come. Closest encounter we ever had was one scared us off of our troutline we had set up.
Swimming in the morning/evening is the worst time around them though because thats when they are looking for food.
>>2061955
Reptiles don't have penises. They have a phallus with a groove or grooves on the surface to conduct semen. There's no urethra. Hemipenes are technically one phallus with a bifurcated head. The base is wide enough in snakes and some lizards to appear as if it were two but the monitors can have a phallus like a horse cock where the hemipenes are only like the flare. If I can find it I'll post a vid of a monitor expressing his phallus.
I know salties get big enough to eat humans, but are there any others that get big enough to consider humans?
>>2071613
nile, american
>>2070355
would never get in water with an animal that could do this a pig
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cthS7F9KgcE
>>2071641
thats ok anon I feel the same way about swimming at the beach because of sharks
>>2061130
Modern crocodilians are really, really, REALLY fucking weird from an evolutionary standpoint.
That whole cold-blooded-aquatic-ambush-predator thing? That's new. In fact, most Crocodylomorphs were more of the "warm-blooded terrestrial" persuasion.
Also, they've got dormant feather genes.
>>2071710
Modern crocodilians are still closer to being halfway between warm blooded a and cold blooded. They have exceptional control over their metabolism and blood flow, have a four-chambered heart and breath like a bird. They make it easy to see how 'warm' and 'cold' blood are really just far ends of a scale and not separate things
>>2071641
Alligators are not Crocodiles m9
>>2071936
>The video linked shows a crocodile eating a pig
>The other guy was talking about swimming with alligators
>Some dumbass tries to correct me when I don't need corrected
>Implying Alligators have the same temperament as Crocodiles
>>2061952
Is there a video with audio?
Could only find dead link to a vine.
>>2071944
That video was an american alligator you idiot.
>>2072619
It's not like you don't know what she's saying
>>2071613
Nile Crocs still see humans as a food source
>fat
>lazy
>eats a lot
>generally antisocial
>prone to violent outbursts
Crocodiles are my spirit animal

>most terrestrial
>dominates larger american crocs
>very aggressive for its size
>very colourful
>probably hunted giant sloths in the past
U mad capitalistas?
>>2071613
Nile, americans, large false gharials, large muggers, morelet's (even though they are small).
Crocodilians: American alligator and black caiman.
known to get huge or have shown aggression towards humans but no verified deaths: Orinocos, Cubans.
>>2076054
And underrestimated tier: Gharials.
"However, big gharials are not limited to a diet of small prey as they are alleged to sometimes take goats and feral dogs."
"There are a couple of authenticated attacks on humans: 55 year old Sankara Behera was attacked by one in 1979 at the Satkoshia Gorge Sanctuary (Bustard & Singh 1981). It grabbed his arm and he fell into the river; his son rescued him and he later recovered. A few other people have been bitten (Steel 1989), but these attacks mostly seem to have been motivated by territoriality or nest-defence."
"The largest recorded length is 6.25 m (20.5 ft), and the largest recorded weight is 977 kg (2,154 lb)."
Inb4 thin snout, An over 20 feet gharial would have a snout thicker than a human arm. Also larger crocs also get relatively more robust skulls.
>>2063431
Throw a cat in there
>>2076059
>Gharials
>global population less than 235
oh...
Any other unique crocodile species?
