Any ideas on what this boy could be, besides a straight up mutt? Looking to possibly adopt him... depends on how well he gets on with cats. Rescue says he is a basset/lab mix, but I don't know how much basset I see in him.

Looks like a garden variety canis doggus.
I'm pretty sure that's a dog, but I suppose it could be a weird bear or fox or something.
It appears to be an adorable skinwalker. He is tierd of looking through your windows. Its time to enter your home and observe the new vicim closer.

Dachshund pitbull mix. It has that shit eating doxie look on its face and the torso and legs yet it has the ears of a pitbull and and the tail of one.
Love your dog, dont worry about what it is just be happy with what you got. And be glad you got at least one serious reply.

Yeah I definitely agree he has some lab in him.
And I wasn't going to let this stop me from potentially adopting him. I already have two cats, and his foster parent is going to see how he gets along with her cats. If he gets on well with cats, then we will see. Apparently he is super sweet and a decent energy.

The was his legs are is cuased by dwarfism common in Bassets, dashunds and Bulldogs. (Many others too)

If he had pointier ears Id throw Kelpie in there. They are awesome dogs.
Labs are very common, so maybe a spoonful of lab.
