Would you get one?

I don't know how domesticated they are. They are cool, but I don't trust breeders and buyers...and those are the only ones who talk about domesticated foxes

I was thinking more vets, shelter workers, and things like that. The first is secondhand and the second is a buyer. Less personally biased firsthand accounts.
Nah, I like more layed-back pets.

That depends, which of the types the russians bred are being offered? The semi domesticated ones or the very undomesticated ones?
>>2050499
Neither of those are Russian foxes. Left is just a cross fox, right is a grey fox. Im thinking of buying a grey pup this spring.

Why? Just get a dog like everyone else. You don't need to abuse an exotic animal just so your friends at school will finally think you're cool.

You know they smell like complete shit right? My friend does animal rehab and she just took care of the first undiseased grey fox that we've had in our state for the last 30 years or so. They smell like catpiss on steroids, and they always smell like that. They can have a bath, and then theyll immediately find some urine to roll around in.

Of course they don't know. You really think this person is anything other than some faggot who wants to post cute pictures of their #cool #exotic #fox #realfox #petfox #wild #hip on Instagram? They probably read a Facebook post about Russian foxes and now think they're an informed pet owner.

You guys are bitter as always and making assumptions again. All the people who want a "cool pet" to show off usually go for wolves and red foxes, anyway. I took care of a grey fox a long time ago and really liked it. He was neutered, didn't smell anymore than a dog or cat. Except their piss reeks. And he had tons of room to play and run, was cared for like family. I'm anti-social anyway, I don't feel any need to "show off" anything. They're just cool little foxes.
Definitely not a pet for everyone. I just like grey foxes.

No, grey foxes are still just as hype-y and shit. It's just a pointless attempt to shove a wild animal in a cage and make it a pet.
Better question if you could afford to properly feed and house one of these would you?
They will never be legal here. You can't even own ferrets in New Zealand.
No they are not pets. Working with them at a refuge you can see that. I feel like the more I understand and come to like animals the less and less I want a pet. This isn't for anthropomorphism but rather just a genuine like for the animal and environment.
Maybe somewhere down the line the domestic project will yield suitable results but not now.
