I got this baby L caerulea or White's Tree Frog a week ago. I have a
>10 gallon tall tank (12lx12wx18h)
>live big leaf plant
>6x3" water pond
>heater
>65-80 temp changes
>60-80 humidity changes with misting
>feeding small crickets every other night

What do you do about feeding, vitamins, light (I read both need and don't need uvb light)?

Thanks!
>>
I don't know anything about frogs but he's a super qt op.

Feeding shouldn't be a problem, they attempt to eat everything. I can't even open the tank without getting jumped. Just get a varied diet of crickets, locusts, roaches, flies, mealworms, etc. The standard vitamin powders work fine.

I've had the oldest one now for over 10 years and I don't keep them with UV. Considering they're nocturnal I doubt they need it.
>>
>>2036866
Damn I never knew that they could live that long. Even in captivity
>>
>>2036896
Supposedly they can live up to 20 years. I don't know anyone who've kept them for that long though.
>>
>>2036904
Mine lasted about 12 before he croaked. But, I got him from a teacher when the school changed their pet policy, so I don't really know how old he was when I got him.

What's the average starting cost for a hobby like this? My hamster and cat aren't cutting it lately. Was thinking snails but frogs are a little more interesting.

$75 for terrarium
$20 for heater
$20 for frog
$10 for water dish
$ 5 for plants

$130 total

Then $1 to $4 a week for insects
And $7 a year for vitamins.

Frogs can range from $5 to $50 depending on species. If they need uvb lights add another $30 then $20 a year on light bulbs.

I agree. That frog is very homely. I'm sick of looking at it.

He's adorable.

Best of luck with this small buddy!

Do toads count? This is my lil buddy Nubbins. I found him at work over the summer and saw he just had a nub where his foot should be so I took him home and now he's my little friend. Definitely one of my favorite pets, toads are extremely underrated.
>>
>>2041750

Poor Nubbins! Good thing, he's got the sweet life now! What do you feed him?
>>
Got a pac-man frog about a week ago. He sure is a lazy frog hasn't moved for a couple days
>>
>>2041766
He mainly eats crickets but I started feeding mealworms also a few months ago and I found that he REALLY likes them. So mainly those two things, dusted with vitamins and calcium supplement every other feeding. He's a real sweet dude, adapted very well to captivity with no signs of parasites or anything.

I'm thinking he lost his legs because of my one coworker. I work at a tree/bush nursery, so we have to string up the plants before we dig them out. Sometimes there are toads underneath. When I find them, I just kinda put them somewhere else safe. My coworker will literally fucking chuck these poor critters in the air as hard as he can. Either he was got a foot yanked off when that happened or he was under a board or something and may have gotten his foot pinched off when somebody picked it up. He was real skinny when I found him, now he's a fat little bastard.

I've had my Pacman for a few months now and I think I've only seen him move own his own accord from an established sitting place like twice. Other than that, he really doesn't move until I take him out to feed him. Honestly, if they're moving around a lot, that probably means that something's wrong.

Pic related is my dude Fatty

A day later... You can tell by his gut he's digested most of the 4 crickets he ate.
>>

How did you go about getting one of those? Ive always wanted one but never knew where to start looking for one. Was also too lazy to do so.

Hey can u guys help me out? I just got a African bull frog (pixie frog) and he is extremely scared of me, I want to feed him in a separate feeding tank but when i did he just freaked out and tried jumping out so I just feed him in his tank now, it's been 4 days I guess he's still nervous around me but when do you guys think he'll get used to me and start eating in a feeding tank? Pic kinda related but just a baby lol
>>
>>2036859

I thought as a general rule you weren't supposed to touch frogs because of the shit all over our skin.
>>
>>2044085
Don't use a seperate feeding tank
>>
>>2044098
It's fine as long as your hands are wet and clean.
>>
do frogs recognize you? do they come to you and just chill?
>>
>>2046539
No. They just recognize everything that moves as potential food.
>>
>>2046539
>>2046608

I disagree. Frogs have been proven to be communal. They also recognize and return to where they sleep, eat, and mate. My frog will come to me, if nothing else because he associates me with food.

2 weeks later. Can you tell if he's growing? Just ate 3 - 1/2" crickets. Feeding every other day.
