While you guys are at it: I took this picture of a shrub-sized plant in flower. Temperate climate in late-spring early summer (if that info helps).

While we're IDing plants, can anyone tell me what this is? We always just called them "biddy-bids" but there are a number of different plants that get called that here. Basically anything with a burr that gets stuck to your clothes can be a biddy-bid, so I want to know what it really is. It doesn't look like any of the actual classified piripiri, which seem to be mostly shrubs. This is kind of a ground-creeper.
They get the burrs in summer. Later in the season, the burrs go brown and hard and that's when they stick to everything and hurt, but they're soft when they're still green.

It could be in the ranunculaceae (buttercup) family, but I'm not sure what genus or species.
It also might be part of the ambrosia genus (in asteraceae), but the stems may be too thick for ambrosia.
You should take a picture that displays the petals more and reproductive structures. Closer and clearer.
Try looking at plant ID guides specifically ones in your region.

It does have some teeny tiny yellow flowers, not many, but they don't look like the tiny flower clusters on the Black Medick I'm finding on search results, and I can't find anything about burrs.
Maybe it's a relative?

Here's the whole thing. I think there are others elsewhere on the section, but I'm not sure where. The dog is always picking the burrs up in his tail, though, and if they were only in this one spot, he'd have a harder time of collecting them.

I spent some time attempting to identify it before posting here, but I'm unfamiliar with the terminology and methods and as such was unsuccessful. I did find a few ID sites that gave examples or explained some of the characteristics, but they didn't prove very helpful.
I suppose I'm mainly concerned with it being a weed and possibly threatening the roses, but I've gone through listings of local noxious and invasive weeds and haven't seen anything resembling it close enough.

Ripped up what could be found, but there were a lot of loose brown burrs about, so it'll be back next year.
