My elderly PersianxRagdoll cat went missing for 4 days, i found him under someones hedge yesterday afternoon. Since having him home he wont eat and he barely drinks any water.
Last night he projectile vomited all over my bed, the floor and some of the wall and i have since noticed that he has urine constantly leaking from his privates.
He's in a bad way.
But here is the clincher, i recently got ill and had to give up work, surviving on welfare and i wish i had the money to try fix anything wrong but, i just don't.
My mother says i should just let him sit and wait for him to get better but he is suffering.
I feel its the best thing to do is get him put down even though i don't want to part from him.
I need guidance.

I just know i have no money and vets don't let you make weekly payment plans. He's sitting there licking himself constantly trying to clean the urine up. Its no way for a gentleman to live.

My vet let me set up payment plan when my dog ripped the webbing between her toes. That was kind of an expensive procedure.

He broke his tail like 5 years ago, and the vet i had previously spent hundreds nutering and vaccinating him at wouldnt let me have a payment plan with them, then they scolded me for not having money to pay in full.
I ended up loaning money from my parents.
I'm already paying $50 a week out of my welfare on medical bills that were around $4000.
I just feel like putting him down is my only option. But it feels terrible.

How about instead of putting him down, you bring him to a shelter. If they can help him, he lives; if not, at least you gave him a shot. Don't put him down if it's not his only option. Wouldn't you rather he gets to live even if he might be adopted by someone else once he's better?

Your vet sounds like a dick. But the shelter idea might work. I suppose it's better than nothing.
I do know how you feel though. I had a kitty back when I was 20. He was totally fine and healthy and then over the course of 2 days just deteriorated. The vet had no idea what was wrong and so I decided to put him down rather than having them run $2000 of tests (I had no credit back then). I just found out that this last year that is what probably kidney stones because his sister got them but managed to pass them.

Frank has had bladder issues before. He would get infections and when i had a job i could afford things like that. Tomorrow when its no longer a public holiday im going to call some places. I might even see if the bank will loan me some money.

He ate a few small bites of food and drank a lot of water this morning. He seems happier but his back end is sore and he is still leaking urine.
Its 10am now and i'm calling local vets
Tests from the vet show he has failing kidneys. And it will be extremely costly to prolong his kidney life.

i've had this broken tailed bitch since i was 16, best kitty ever, but if im lucky she could live til 20 and be ok, thats how my grandpas cat ended up, like 22 and looks like she is 12 y/o kitty, but she is healthy as fuck for being so old.
