How do you train a dog not to sleep in a certain spot? He always lays behind my chair and I am worried about running over him

run over him a few times. he'll learn not to sleep there. you can try to teach him to sleep somewhere else, but it's his loyalty that brings him close (this will never change btw).
just let him learn on his own that the location he chose was a poor one, he'll move. it probably won't be more than three feet, but it will be out of the way of the chair.
