Get at least a 5 to 10 gallon, 10 gallon preferably, give it some company like ghost shrimp or African dwarf frogs, and feed it pellets or flakes. To see if they're happy they'll be swimming happily and not laying on the bottom.

5 gallons, heated, throw some gravel and fake plants (silk, NOT PLASTIC) and it'll be fine probably.
