A guy on my block owns a golden/gsd/border collie mix. This dog is so beautiful and friendly and eager to please. I think he got all the best traits of each breed.
All sound like epic dogs desu, have a border collie myself, it's dad was half huntaway it's an absolute hero. She's tricolour and looks like a husky at the moment (only 14 weeks)
Does anyone know why border collie colours are so dominant? Every dog I see them crossed with is black and white or tri colour.

I work at a shelter, and the best crosses that come in are always the german shorthair pointer mixes, probably. there's one in particular that's pretty great, but his owner is a moron that's homeless or something so the dog is always running loose and picked up by animal control so he's in at least one a month. but anyways, the worst are the lab or border collie mixes. always neurotic as fuck and they come in all the fucking time.

not really, honestly. as a stray intake shelter we have a 70-something % RTO rate, since most of our dogs are just owned dogs that got out, as many do at some point (1 in 3 or something like that), so it's not like they're all dogs that just got surrendered for bad behavior. plus I help out at the training classes our shelter has for members of the public/their dogs, and it's the same thing. not usually aggressive, but just fucking crazy

Had the perfect dog. Nearly all black lab/malinois (with a little white spot above her front legs, below her throat). Looked like a cute athletic lab who could raise her ears with a head halfway between lab and malinois. And didn't gorge on food/grow obese like so many labs apparently do. Also smart as fuck, picked up loads of things real fast.
Children who saw her kept going "Wow, a wolf!" for some reason, never found her to look like one much.
Now I'm going to go back to bed and cry or something.

Really protective, smart but acts dumb to get attention, loves to play with kids and knows when to lead them back where they need to be, enjoys cuddling, pizza, and chips, but can be super serious when he needs to be.
