I've been meaning to ask this, but the original Spinosaur thread is ded.

Were there Spinosaur at all?
Said thread stated that what we know as Spinosaur was actually four different animals, but one of them had to had that veil thing, right?

Pterosaurs, plesiosaurs and ichthyosaurs all belong to different clades.
>>
>>1999660
Makes sense, to be honest. That would also explain how the birds survived: they were simply small enough to fit in the Ark.
>>
>>1999659
well obviously this is a fake buggay. the real one would probably say:

or
>nociception
>>
>>1999636
Spinosaurus is still a species. The skeleton in the article was just a mix of different animals.

Where there any 'aquatic' dinosaurs aside from spinosaurus fucking around in the water? Even just ones that wading around like birds today but didn't actually swim.

It's just a gross illustration, couldn't find other that would show effectively what the anon asked for.

I could use a archosaur tree, but then ichthyosaurs and plesiosaurs would be left out.

I just wanted anon to have a general idea.
>>

>>1999673
you're forgetting plesiosaurs
>>
>>1999671
I can't name any outside the Spinosauridae family, but I'm sure there were other fish eating dinosaurs that would have fit your description.

It's not even one clade, it's one species from one clade survived and then diversified again.
>>

I remember that thread. Like 8 different posts mentioned that they were from different periods. Did you actually go in the thread of just saw picture and got mad

well we're doing better.
>>1999671
yeah, there's a couple.
Dilophosaurus had weak jaws and teeth as well as a maxillo-premaxillary diastema just like crocodiles and spinosaurs have. It's usually interpreted as a fish-eater.

There aren't any aquatic theropods that we know of though, with the likely exception of spinosaurs. An animal doesn't actually have to live in the water to eat fish.
>>
>>1999701
>one species from one clade survived and then diversified again.
impossible since a couple modern bird clades diversified before the K-Pg Event. At least three, and probably hundreds of species of birds survived.

Also there's decent evidence for some populations of gigantic terrestrial dinosaurs surviving the event before going extinct several million years later. But that's a whole different topic.
>>
>>1999889
Do you have a particular source for that? (not arguing, just interested in reading about it)
>>
>>1999922
which part, the diversification of birds in the Cretaceous or the survival of non-avian dinosaurs beyond the K-Pg?
>>
>>1999922
I'll assume you mean the part about dinos surviving the extinction.

there's several papers on the subject, the USGS has one that confirms it. But here's one that you can read the full text on:

yes.
Unless the guys that brought us quadrupedal Spinosaurus can bring something new and very convincing to the table, it looks like their version of Spinosaurus is dead in the water.

I don't think he can feel pain, either.

But the question is: can he even feel nociception?
