Chickadees are adorable, and they're always the first bird to stop caring that I'm nearby when I'm out in the yard.

It doesn't look cracked. Their beaks grow in layers, mine has that cracked look right now. I sometimes pick on the cracked looking part and pry off the loose layer, food gets stuck there sometimes if it's loose and rubbing her beak against her perch doesn't get rid of it.

I think a blood test will tell you that. I'm not sure, I thought mine was full grown when she was rescued but she was using her beak a lot more than now which leads me to believe she was still very young when I first got her.

I have a baby one that has recently left the nest come to my house and sit down and chat with me and he has copied some basic sounds from my cockatiels not only that he has been watching the family of crows that come around ( due to it starting to get into summer it gets rather warm ) the food we toss out and feed him goes hard quite quickly so he learnt from the crows to pick up the food place it in the water bowl to wet it to make it easier to eat.
