The only thing that separates mankind from other animals is our minds, and that is only if we use them correctly. For the first time in mankind's history we can Know the truth as it relates to conscious life. The truth is stranger than fiction but it is the real truth that will set you free from the animal realm from which we all evolved.
A man should look for what is and not for what he thinks should be.
Albert Einstein
Truth you can check: It is as matter of fact as the ground and as useful as food. It's the kind of truth that can make hate and war as unnecessary as ignorance.
Charles Darwin revealed how evolution works, but not what it really means.
Evolution is no longer just a theory; it has been proven true beyond a reasonable doubt. The problem is, even people who believe evolution is true disassociate themselves from the process. They somehow skipped all the lower forms of...

did you just finish your psychology 101 classes or something?
In other words, you were a microbe, an insect, a fish, a dinosaur, an ape...
When all of the evidence (100%) says something happened, and there is no evidence (zero) that anything else could have happened, it is the truth beyond a reasonable doubt to honest, rational people.
We have come a very, very long way, but we have a little further to go. The next and last step in our evolution is learning and accepting the truth of life, and this includes acknowledging our true past.
The truth will free us from the animal world we all evolved from.
This cute little fella was chilling outside my apartment and I took a few pics before it ran away. Anyone knows what are these called? I've seen quite a few before. I'm in Louisiana if that helps, but I'm not from here so I'm unfamiliar with them.

Do you leave your cats and dogs alone together? any worries about your cats dying?
I leave them together but I'm not worried about them killing each other. The cat will kill smaller dogs but he leaves things bigger than him alone. The dog is a scared, submissive baby to the cat so he wouldn't attack either.
Only done it one time with one dog that I completely trusted, otherwise no.
>>2144263
I have a dog, 2 cats, and 6 birds (a cockatiel and 5 diamond doves), and I'll leave them home alone because the dog isn't violent at all. She had her puppies taken before she was mine, so she thinks the cats are her own and tries to nurse them. I don't worry about the cats because the cats are actually afraid of birds, so it all works out.
Gonna befriend some crows! Wish me luck /an/
Also crow thread! Post crows
How do you plan to befriend them? I love crows OP I wish you luck

Do you plan to make World War Crow 2?
Are these crows or ravens? How can you tell?
so i found this in my mantis tank...what the hell is it, i don't put anything in there except brown crickets and its closed all the time...
Egg case.

For what? My mantis has never been with a male

females can store sperm
>Been wanting a second dog as a buddy for our first for a while
>Walk into the petshop today to get some crickers
>lady who owns the shop has three german shepherd puppies in a crate
>says her brothers bitch had the pups and she took three into her petshop to try and find them good homes
>only wants 300 for a pup wich covers the cost of the shots and dewormer
Holy fuck, I'm going for it!
buying one of those puppies means you're directly supporting and enabling backyard breeders.

/bug general/ for the discussion of arachnids insects, gastropods, arthropods and the like.
If you going to ask "I found this what is it" please include your location and a decent picture with something next to it for scale plus as much detail as possible, this way we can tell you with certainty whether is is a June bug or a Brown recluse.
I recently got my first spiderling and am trying to keep it alive. Looking forward to the next molt so I can try to sex it. Anyone own any cool inverts? Thinking a big centipede would be cool.
Also taking name suggestions, it's a GBB, c. cyanopubescens
>>2146457
Blue pubes.
I like spiders but I prefer inverts I can handle
Millipedes are way cuter/nicer than centipedes.
>>2146464
You can handle these! :D
I have a new fish tank that I was setting up, I poured the water in and am giving it a few days before I buy the fish. The guy at the fish store said I would need declorinators, conditioning salts and some pH balancing thing. I called my brother who has fish and he said that the pet guy just wants to sell useless stuff. He said he always uses tap water and as long as you let it rest for a day the water will be fine, I just wanted a final opinion before I got the fish. Can the tap water kill my fish, or will they be fine because of the water being filtered for a few days without...

2 things here:
1. Some tap water has chlorine, this goes away by itself if you let the water sit for a while. Other tap water has chloramine, chlorine bonded to ammonia, this absolutely needs a water dechlorinator to get rid of.
2. You need to cycle the tank before putting fish in it, or the fish will die of ammonia poisoning.
Definitely get conditioner, ammonia in the water is bad for fish. Get a live plant in their too, it absorbs that and other bad stuff.
I don't even know what "conditioning salts" are. You do need dechlorinating solution. You don't need "some pH balancing thing" unless your tap water has a funny pH.
>Can the tap water kill my fish, or will they be fine because of the water being filtered for a few days without any fish in it.
I think by this point the chlorine will have evaporated. You still need to dechlorinate water that you add to the tank.
>It's a 10 gallon tank and I will put in some ghost shrimp, a few of these blushing tetras a couple scissortail rasboras a ghost catfish or 2 maybe a loach, and a couple snails.
Slow down there. It sounds like you're on the way to overstocked. And I can't think of a species of loach that is suitable for a 10 gallon. Loaches, tetras and rasboras are both going to want to be in groups of at least 5~6. I would pick either tetras or rasboras.
So I have a nana aquarium with some red shrimps and 3 NeonTetra. But I'm still in search of a bottom dweller. That will clean the tank a bit. Does anyone know of some small fish that goed with these?
>>2146181
Unsure about fish, but have you thought about snails, like a nerite?
>>2146183
Yeah, but do they leave a trail on the glass? And I had snails when I was younger with gold fish, but those are a bit big for this tank.
Shrimp are detritivores you don't need a bottom dwelling fish. I would get a few more neon tetras.
Anyone knows which type is this snake
Neighbour found it in his backyard
ded snek
Mexican snek. You can tell by it's head being separate from the rest of the body.
>>2146003
Which state do you live in. It kinda looks like a black racer.
I'm starting a new fish tank. Freshwater. 15 gallons. It will be full of plants and around 75 degrees Fahrenheit. I plan to stock it with glass shrimp and glass catfish, and a few snails.
The theme is going to be undead with these see through skeletal fish. I just wanted to know if anybody could think of other things to put in this tank? Besides the catfish and ghost shrimps I have nothing that fits the bill.

Glass catfish are kind of pansies, so be mindful when choosing tankmates. Give them plenty of cover and keep an eye on your water parameters too.
Hey /an/ons, I'm about to get a small colony of 10 Domino Roach (Therea Petiveriana) nymphs, and I'm wondering if you guys had any suggestions. I've never raised roaches as anything other than cricket-replacement feeders, but the caresheet seems easy enough. Currently, my plan is like this:
> tank designed for small amphibians (watertight for humid substrate, etc)
> currently trying to decide between putting wire mesh over air slits on the top, or just relying on a band of vaseline to prevent escapees...

>>2145545
Be careful it doesn't get to humid, mold can develop.
Vaseline don't work 100%.
Tropical woodlice seem to do better and don't escape as easily.
Coconut substrate does better and is cleaner.
Bark is good but I've found the favourite is always egg cartons.
Moss generally does okay.
Why are you getting dominoes?
>>2146240
Yeah, that was a concern. Would the woodlice still help out with any mold spores that might make their way in and start to grow?
So... the Vaseline isn't a sure bet. Wire mesh it is, then!
Would the dominoes still be able to burrow around in coconut fiber? I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to gather dead leaves for them myself, though.
Interesting. Egg cartons give them more places to hide per square inch, so I can see that.
I was planning on getting dominoes because they were the most attractive...

Depends on the amount of mold you think you're at risk of. If you think there's going to be a lot then go for springtails but woodlice are easier.
If you're not trying to get them to breed lots the humidity doesn't need to be as high either.
Coconut fiber is pretty easy for them to burrow into.
Depends if you want a colony of roaches or just a few individuals. The bigger the roach the slower they tend to be and the longer they tend to live so they make better pets.
I find the question...

Is getting your dog desexed the right thing to do?
>Desexed
It's not changing their gender, it's just removing the important bits so they can't have offspring.
And yeah, it absolutely is.
>>2145458
I just took my boy in. Feel terrible for some reason.
>>2145462
You're a moron if you do. They behave much better when you get them fixed.
Hi, so i've had my dog for about 5 months now and i'm having a lot of difficulty with her sass. Yes. She's a sassy bitch.
She is Husky x Akita. So she's very big for her age and doesn't quite get that part yet.
My problem is I cant walk her on her lead properly, she just cant chill. Has to go get pats, constantly pulls and hurts herself sometimes because she just wants to go. If I try and get her to stop and sit, she literally just argues with me. Any tips on how I can solve this, or just keep at it? I walk her every 2nd day.
Also,...

Thanks for the info thought, ill defs check it out :)

Very cute dog. Does she have roach back by any chance? Do you have more pics?
What's the best way to go about getting a nice clean skeleton from a dead animal?
Been reading a lot of vulture culture stuff, been finding lots of dead critters lately, seems like it might be fun.
Dermestid beetles are the best way, period. Of you're gonna get into the hobby then dermestid beetles are definitely a good idea.
