How smart are pigs really? Everyone says they're clever but I'm not convinced? Are they clever like rats that cat be trained to go through a maze or clever like Chimps that can figure out how to use tools, or clever like dolphins that can figure out how to rape?
All three actually.

Baby boars are so cute. Like little baby deer with snuffle faces.
Wild boar aren't very smart, even though their babies are much cuter and the adults look much cooler.
Domestic pigs are smart as fuck though. I am not sure why or how that happened.
I'd just planted a cranberry seed underneath my skin. I'll soak my finger (where it's located) daily and later soak my finger in plant nutrients. Are there any adverse effects of this process?
Can't use that finger anymore? Gl
>>1995869
probably not, but there are definitely multiple adverse effects to being a complete idiot
>>1995882
Good one.
Who /falconry/ here?
>>1995581
That's an eagle, Anon
>>1995593
it's a brown recluse.
>>1995581
Never done it, but my grandad kept kestrels and Harris hawks I've always wanted to have a bird of prey, but apparently they're just dumb. A mate of mine had trained his to fly out of his car on a country road and fly back in with rabbits, I'd be into this.
Hey /an/, my roommate's hamster has something wrong with her cheeks. They're all bloody and scabby looking. If you look at the pic, you can see food stuck in one of the bloody pits in her face. I've suggested multiple times for him to take her to the vet but he says he isn't willing to spend the money on a hamster that won't live much longer anyway. Do any hamster experts here have an idea of what could be wrong? The hamster is by itself so it's not being mutilated by other hamsters or anything.
Wet tail
>>1995393
There doesn't seem to be any wetness around the tail and this face thing has been going on for several weeks at least

Where were you when the terrorists won?
Why is holding orcas in captivity worse than zoos and aquariums holding animals?
It seems like most people advocating this are mindlessly parroting some CNN movie, and that worries me, but I don't know if they're mindlessly advocating something good or bad.
>>1995256
These animals are perceived as far more intelligent and social than any others like le magic dolphinz. However the whale the film is about, Tilikum, is wild caught, has been abused by other whales and is a danger to trainers, they also keep him in a tiny holding tank and jerk him off daily and make millions from his sperm, so his offspring can also live in a tiny tank somewhere else. Considering their natural range of thousands of miles it's really rather awful.
>>1995247
they're losing money, and they think it's because of Blackfish.
In reality their core demographic doesn't have as much money as they used to, and what they offer isn't the best zoo around or the best theme park. It's a good time to be Disneyland or the San Diego Zoo. SeaWorld not so much.
My girlfriend and I just got this kitten and we don't have a name for her, any suggestions /an/?
btw it's a girl
lmao redundant mentioned she was a girl twice

What's better, cat or dog?
They're both good in their own ways
>>1994966
Depends on your circumstances. Sometimes I wish I had a cat so I didn't have to revolve my life so heavily around my dog, but I love him to bits.
>>1994966
Wish I could afford both.
Doggie will do for now.
What would the body of a human raised by monkeys look like?
What traits/instincts would this person have?
>>1994786
>What would the body of a human raised by monkeys look like?
Like a human.
>What traits/instincts would this person have?
Whatever they learned from the monkeys. (you probably mean apes)
You don't seem to grasp how biology 101 works.
>>1994789
No, I mean monkeys.
I know Louie is an ape but in the movie he's credited as "The Monkey King".
And I didn't want to look for pictures of actual monkeys, they're ugly and vile.
>You don't seem to grasp how biology 101 works.
I guess not?
I thought feral children's bodies differed from humans that grow up in normal environments because of adaptation.
Also because of adaptation depending on what animals they were brought up by, they...

Just put my dog Buster down. He went peacefully in my arms. So many feels right now.
He lived a full 14 years. It is amazing how our pets lives prompt us to reflect on our own.
>>1994634
Rest in peace beautiful prince
OP, I'm so sorry man. Cry it out, he will always be remembered
Sorry to hear that, man.
>>1994634
At least he had you, buddy.
He is lucky to have died in the arms of the person he loved and admired most in life. I hope I get to go out that way too.
Do you like ducklings?
Sure why not
>>1994577
definitely senpai
I didn't know what love was until I had a duckling

I find him very honourable. He has raised awareness about oceanic problems, such as acidification and pollutions (e.g., PCBs), and how they affect biodiversity and even our future selves.
I agree with his actions of defending cetacean life by breaking down ships and harassing stupid Faroe, Japanese fishermen, and Inuit people considering there is copious evidence defending cetacean high self-awareness and intelligence. If we acknowledge their high encephalization quotient, high degrees of brain folding, complexity of their neocortexes, psychological experiments validating...

Why does something deserve to be alive just because its brain is more complex if it can't use that complexity to learn to avoid danger?
You know what everything that can't avoid danger is?
Extinct. And most of it not by our hands.
The earth is fuelled primarily by the sun.
This fuel allows life to form and flourish.
This life takes on many forms, each attempting to cling to a niche, each doing the same thing; surviving.
Those that are better at surviving go on, those that are worse do not. Where is the fairness in this? Nowhere,...

...You're very much going into what is the point of life territory. Why don't we all just kill ourselves? If life has no meaning and nothing happens after, what's the point of living?
If everything you experience means nothing, then there's no reason to live.
Bleeding heart ex-greenpeace faggot who watched too many pirate movies and thinks he is one. One day, a destroyer is going to blow him and his crew out of the water and nobody is going to give a fuck.
Post eyes and animals with cool eyes
>>1993790
These are the eyes of a harvestman. I think they look eerily intelligent.
Tokay gecko.
I tried to find a not (too much) shooped image.
Piggies or ratties?
I'm considering guetting rodents as pets and I'm thorn between 2 rats or 2 guinea pigs...
I find pigs cuter but like that rats are more intelligent. The downside to pigs is the vitamin c pallets you gotta buy for them (don't have many of those where I live and they are very expensive) and the downside for rats is the fact they pee on you to mark territory.
Sell me on why should I get guinea pigs/rats.
(Also, can any of them be litter trained?)
I would go for rats if i were you. That comes from a person who have had a really big interest in guinea pigs and helping them when not ben taken care of right. They are really cute as babies but they are really boring. Sometimes they learn certain words if you repeat them before giving them food. Which make them squeak and get all excited for half a minute when the word is being heard by them. And that's pretty much it. Rats are way smarter and I would as I said, recommend them. I'm 100% sure they are more interesting.
>>1993576
I don't think peeing is a problem if you get female rats
Also consider how much time you have to entertain your pets, rats are smarter and they will cause a havoc when they get bored
>>1993576
Rats will die in 1-2 years, usually of horrible cancer.
So, take into account whether you want to deal with that. You get much more mileage with pigs.
Is my dog about to die?
My dog was mostly fine yesterday.
She's an overweight 13 year beagle, and she has cushions, so we know the end is near.
But she was fine today, but tonight she just started barking/howling in the house for no reason.
He legs have been giving out for the last 4 months, but tonight has to be the worst.
Tried to give her her pain pills in her favorite foods, just yesterday she was begging for everything I ate.
Tried to put her pill in a cooked porkchop, she won't eat it.
She won't touch her dog food now, she won't...

What's the best animal (other than humans/primates) to keep hugging for hours?
Are rabbits or chinchilla good?
Cat and dog keeps trying to run away and the bird freaks out.
>tfw 28 years old and still no relationship.
Skunk

Get into a relationship. Fix yourself until someone finds you appealing.
none.
even dogs don't actually like being hugged.
