I was about to feed my puppy Merrick dry food, and I noticed something green in the bowl...
Turns out there was a piece of green plastic embedded in one of the kibbles.
Is this grounds to sue? I mean, I've fed her Merrick for quite a while now. Who knows how many more bags are like this. I know a little piece of plastic wont kill her, but she's my baby, and I'm upset.

Never mind. If you want to cause a stink, show them the kibble, make a big deal about it. They might do a product recall on it if it's bad enough. Take photos and send a message to the company as well. Or just ignore the store and call the company directly.

Offer it your anus as an apology.
There are a couple things you can try.
Try locating the cat and sitting down in the room the cat is currently in. It may take some time but the cat will generally come up to you. Just be slow until the cat realizes you won't hurt it.
If the cat likes treats, you can always try offering them some treats/tuna or even cooked chicken as a sort of peace offering. The cat should start to associate you with treats and get back to being your friend (you can also combine this with sitting on the floor so the cat doesn't feel threatened).

Tell the owners what you did and ask what kind of food it likes.
Don't try to chase it any more but getting close and fully extending your arm to let it smell you/maybe pet it a little will help.

What you're looking for is called an animal rescue. Dog rescue. Although regular animal shelter would probably work out okay also. Dachshunds are popular and he would be quite likely to be adopted out in short order.

What animal could I realistically get as a pet that would live the longest? I really, really don't handle pet deaths well, and I'd like to avoid it again if possible.
I know parrots outlive their owners fairly often. And I've heard about those tortoises living +100 years, but I don't know how practical that would be.

so I've been with this girl and I'm kind of worried she's not giving him as much time as he needs, he's about 7 months old. I could be overreacting, I just want some assurance

It depends on the breed of the dog.
If it's a greyhound then they don't need shit, but if a husky they need like 3 hours of running a day.
Hard to tell unless we know the breed and the specifics of how much time she spends with the dog and what she does during said time.
From what you described it sounds like you're overreacting, though.
At seven months she's sounds like a good owner honestly. If the pup were say 3 or 4 months I would be a bit worried, but for how much she's working and still taking the time out of her day to come home at lunch and take care of that pup PLUS giving him a whole room, ah that just warms my heart. Unless the pup is misbehaving or not getting enough hard excersise, I wouldn't worry. She sounds like a great owner to me.

I've had several close calls with elephant, rhino, and buffalo on foot and in a vehicle, if you'd like to hear a story just pick a species.
As for tourists...I've had clients jump off a vehicle whilst there are lions 10 meters away.
