Hey /an/, my pitbull killed one of my hens. How do I keep it from doing it again?
Kill it?
Pitbulls are high prey-drive dogs. Keep it away from your chickens, and make sure your coop is secure.
>cats are small
>lions are huge
>dogs are medium size
>wolfs are medium as well
What is this bullshit? Where are my dire wolfs a man could ride into battle on?
I think we just slew them all. They were not dire enough to resist spears and teamwork.
Cats weren't domesticated from lions and dire wolves weren't even that big. We have dog breeds that are bigger.
Here's a jawbone comparison, the darker one being a dire wolf.
dogs are morons that will fuck anything, that's why there is only like 4 kinds of wolf and they all look pretty much the same.
We recently bought 2 male Betta fish this past Friday. One looks very sick. It's fins look shredded (just noticed some pieces of fallen off fins on the rocks). It lays on the bottom of the tank, sometimes appearing dead. I've been looking at common Betta fish diseases and it seems to have ick (white grain like spots on its body and head). Does anyone have any advice? Pet store people said once fish get sick they usually don't get any better. They swore by BettaFix and we applied some last night. The ick only appeared today. Should I just humanely put this guy...

What are your water parameters?
How long has the tank been set up and running?
Warm water, salt dosing, frequent water changes, feeding as often as the fish will eat. Warm water speeds up the life cycle of the ich and increases the amount of free-swimming protozoa which cannot survive in any sort of saline environment.

No, what is the nitrogen level and ph.
You do have a water testing kit, right?
And you know how to use it to balance out your tank, right?
Because that is basic fish care.
I’ve had this bird for a little more than 3 years now, and while he got a lot better compared to the state he was in when I got him, he doesn’t seem to be getting any better now. Greentexting short summary
>adopted a cockatiel that was abandoned by its owner (bird was 12 at the time)
>pretty sure the previous owner was fucking horrible and knew nothing about taking care of birds
>at first tiel wouldn’t eat ANYTHING else than millet seeds
>when I showed it fruits, vegetables, different seeds or any other kind of food it didn’t even seemed to recognize them as food
>when he started moulting (a few days after I got him) I noticed that some of the longer feathers were damaged
>bent like they were broken while growing, some also looked like they had their ends cut/ripped
>when I let him out of cage he wouldn’t fly; he’d try to glide a little but mostly fail at it. Very clumsy while trying to fly
>I suspect his previous owner didn’t even let him out of cage once; muscles must’ve fucking vanished
> EXTREMELY afraid of hands, would panic or get very aggressive when he saw a raised hand
>afraid of everything in his cage except water/food containers
>very aggressive towards other birds, attacks them, aggressive towards most people too
Overall I suspect that for the whole 12 years he was either kept in a very small cage alone, or kept with a bird that was harassing him (judging by his panic/aggression attacks when he spots another bird). It’s been 3 years now and although it wasn’t easy I managed to ‘rehabilitate’ him a little; he’s now eating diverse food, he’s not aggressive towards me and not afraid of hands so much anymore, though he still won’t let anyone pet him (but he’s fine of sitting on my hand/finger, something he would never do 3 years ago).
(1/2)
(2/2)
He also got better at flying, although he never got perfect at it; he keeps “gliding” and mostly doing short jumps boosted by his wings rather than flying (I even suspect he may have never learned how to properly fly). The thing I’m most worried about though, and the one that didn’t change through those 3 years, is that he doesn’t seem to be interested in anything. He just keeps sitting in one place and does not respond to anything. At first I put some toys in his cage but later I took them away as I was worried for his safety when he’d freak out seeing...

I have a ~8 year old Green Cheeked Conure, and I don't know that he really plays with his toys much either. That having been said, we take him out of his cage a LOT and he's always very active with us when he's out and about. Loves to try and eat our food when he's at the dinner table with us, will fly around the house looking for us, etc. Is he in the cage the majority of the day? What are his surroundings like when he's in the cage? Lighting, walls, etc?
I don't have any advice for you OP, but good on you for making life better for this bird
What should I put in this crystal bowl /an/? I've been thinking about a cray fish or something But I'm not sure. I think it's a gallon and a half or maybe 2
>>2011135
artemia or fairy shrimp are pretty much the only thing that can comfortably live in a bowl
>>2011135
Crawfish need a lot of territory. 10 gallon minimum for one.

Goldfish or a beta
Anybody here expert on parrots? I have a problem. I bought 2 new parakeets, one with the black stripes on the head is male, the blue-belly one is female. Male didn't make any resistance, and made himself comfy with human presence- The problem is the female.
Everytime i try to touch her,she hides away or start to flap around the cage violently. I tried to take her on the bed with me,like i did with the male, trying to have a more "face-to-face" speaking, but nothing works. I even tried hand feeding and all these tricks, but she's a stubborn and wont make...

Look up the parrot wizard. You'll thank me. He has a bunch of videos on training and socializing birds. It will work for parakeets too.
That budgie looks sick. Is she standing like this most of the time?
>>2010977
Lmao no of course,i've read that they stay like this when they sense danger or something like that. She eat, drink water and sleep normally like the other one
>>2010975
Parrot wizard? Never heard of. And btw im not so sure it will work,i've already followed some tips from a very good guy on yt taming birds in general

why are bunnies cute?
also bunnie thread
>>2010664
I like bunnies too anon, but I like a different kind of bunny.
This is my mom's English angora chip. We have to shear him soon. Any tips to make it less painful and time consuming as normal?
>>2010674
is ... is that his cage? does he live in THIS tiny shit box?
So
I feed my leopard gecko super worms. One hid itself really well (even I didn't see it) and I guess became this shit
I want to keep it as a pet
I have a 12x12x12 vivarium I had bought my leopard gecko in
(Pictured is a 15 gal tank because the vivarium wasn't suitable for him)
I have yet to put that cube to good use
Thinking of having some kind of insect/plant mix in there
Any idea how to do this?
Snails and beetles and shit
Maybe actual worms
Do I use potting soil or topsoil?
Man I hope I don't come off as an idiot
Potting soil or topsoil will both work.
Chances are there are insecticides in the topsoil, but whatever. That thing will require some dead leaves and a relatively humid enclosure - the soil and the leaves should do fine.
"Most species are generalistic omnivores, and feed on decaying leaves, rotting wood, fresh plant matter, dead insects, and fungi as larvae and adults.[7]"
Some of them can even live up to two years.
Enjoy your new, uh, beetle.
>>2010432
I'd like to plant some shit for them to eat
I got 3 snails
>>2010435
I mean. Unless you have a big enough enclosure and the lights to grow small fruiting plants, I doubt you're gonna do much for them.
How do I know it's time to euthanize my cat?
She's an old stray i picked up in june or july.
Shes got tumors under her arm
some neurologic damage to her spine (if you scratched her butt she would fall over)
She has some kidney issues too
Shes been doing weird things all day though
All day she has been 'headpressing' into this one corner, shes been pacing around the room, she fell down the stairs today too, but slow enough a cat could catch themself, but she didnt. Shes also been tripping over everything.
She keeps trying to lay down but...

Best to take them to the vet and see what the vet says about euthenasia under these conditions.
>>2010098
I called a vet and explained what was wrong
I think she said something about telling the veterinarian the next morning (they all left)
But I asked how much it would cost to make sure i had the money and we ended the conversation on that.
The only thing she's not doing is defecating all over herself
It seems like shes finally falling asleep now
Should i even bother euthanizing her?
Should i let her die of natural causes?
>>2010101
I think that's a decision that's up to you op. I worked at an animal clinic and euthanasia is always hard even though it's an everyday thing. It's a tough decision to make but if the cat is really old with all of these issues it might pass away soon.
Hey /an/
My puppy's(8 months now) breeder is going to visit us next week. What should i expect? What are they looking for? Can this have any kind of consequence?
I'm afraid that he doesn't support crate training which we did.
As long as you have been doing what you are supposed to do (regular exercise and training, feeding quality food), you should be fine.
>>2009970
Is the breeder by any chance a nigger?
Just got a new rat dog. Its basically attached to my gfs lap 24/7, cries really loud if she leaves the room or when we leave for work and digs at his kennel. Shits and pisses everywhere.
Send help please.
>>2009790
Take a .22 and shoot him, then cut him in quarters and use as fish bait.
How old is he?
How long has your girlfriend had him?
How long is he left alone?
>>2009790
so cute!!! ...drop kick it into a river.
Pic related is a redwood, a giant tree. always amazing to remember that trees that big exist.
>>2009252
He's a big boy
I drove from Crescent City CA to San Fransisco and I ended-up being later and dicks because I couldn't keep myself from stopping to look at the redwüds every opportunity I had. I spent the whole day wandering around redwüd groves in awe. By the time I was on the PCH, starving and running out of gas, everything out there was closed. I almost died. Got into San Fran at like 10pm, starving.
I think everyone should see the redwoods at least once in their lives. Thousands of years old, only found in California and a little bit of Oregon, and the largest trees in the world. OP's pic I'm pretty sure is Hyperion, the world's tallest tree. Pic related is General Sherman, the world's largest tree. The costal redwoods are the tall ones and are found along the coast, and the giant sequoias and the wide ones and are found more inland towards the Sierra Nevadas. See both if you can! Definitely my favorite trees of all time.
