My dog died a while ago, and I've been wanting to get another dog for some time.

I was planning on getting a Catahoula or something similar, but I currently live with a family member who has some dog allergies.

What are some good hypoallergenic dog breeds that don't look ridiculous?

There is no true hypoallergenic dog, but here is a list that MAY not trigger your family member's allergies as bad.
http://www.petwave.com/Dogs/Breeds/Hypoallergenic.aspx
I'm skeptical of any of the hairless dogs being all that hypoallergenic but I've heard that 'curly coated' dogs usually are ok with people with allergies.

Awesome.

That Wirehaired Vizsla looks awesome. Never even heard of them before.

Either that or a Basenji looks like something I would have a lot of fun with.

Consider The Following:

-You may not live with this person for the next 10-15 years, so get the dog you want

-This person can take a daily allergy pill if the allergy isn't severe, or simply go to the doctor for an allergy shot
-Vacuum the house more than once a week and don't let the dog on the furniture

So I have this deer in my yard.

Before the snow fell he would wander through and eat grass and some of the corn and stuff I put out to keep deer like him from eating my bushes. Noticed that he had the diarrhea then.

Now snow has fallen and he still comes into the yard, last few days he has been pretty lethargic and today he was hanging around in front of my garage.

Went to leave for dinner and saw that he had diarrheaed in front of my garage, gross. So I put some cocoa hull mulch on it to cover it up (frozen)

Got home tonight and he was sleeping on...

Probably call animal control. Nothing you can really do where you live, or realistically if you lived somewhere else, maybe put a water bowl out for it?...

I hear once you feed them they won't leave.

nah man.

There are like 10 or so that traverse an area from the river through my neighborhood to the railways and back and forth - mostly in the evenings though.

water would freeze solid in short order -5 here now

My cat for awhile now has had this greenish shit around his eyes and he's always stuffed up and sneezing.

Is it feline herpes or just a respiratory infection? I can't afford a vet because they're all expensive as fuck where I live and I only have like 100 dollars to my name. I have some medicine from another cat that had something similar can I just use that

If you can't afford the vet, don't get the pet.

Although if you live in the US you can try Carecredit. It's not so bad.

3 MB,
I tried to look this up on forums but got no answers, so I want to ask here, I have a male cat, DSH, named Bowie. He resently went throught a UTI-surgery, one which it took him a week to recover and twice to be unblocked. He had been hooked up on a catheter and fluids for the past week and the vet took him out of it last Sunday. He did well both days and his readings were stabilizing.

I brought him home today and now he doesn't seem to want to do much, just hide in his carrier box and under chairs, just like he did before the whole thing began, should I be concerned?...

He has been peeing, however in small amounts. He still has not eaten though. I also habe to other cats, both females, that have been very menacing to him ever since he got back, which is strange since they never have done that in the past.
>>
>>2035753
Just give him time anon he went through surgery.
>>
>>2035754
Probably try isolating him from the other cats and he'll eat eventually if not bring him back to the vet.

I find parasites to be very fascinating, what parasites have you or your pets had?

I've had tapeworms, pinworms, and ticks over the course of my life.

I know right? I love parasites.

I enjoy taking fleas off my cat, but I hate it when they bite me lol

By the way what's the best way to get rid of fleas forever? I put the treatment on my cat (liquid one) like 2 weeks ago and he has more already...

Get better flea treatment? I used to use the stuff from Costco for my cat, but it didn't work. I ended up getting some fancy brand my vet recommended.

So my dog has a partially torn cruciate ligament. We're gonna get surgery, but until then I'm icing his knee every night and I'm looking for some kind of brace he can wear during the day.

I saw this on amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Back-Track-8-6-Inch-Therapeutic-Adjustable/dp/B00BZOODQW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1452654737&sr=8-4&keywords=dog+knee+brace

That goes on the dog's hock, not the knee. Does having a brace on the hock help the knee at all? I would think not, but people in the reviews talked about their dogs having bad knees and acl tears (and one person specifically mentioned a partially torn cruciate ligament).

Other than that question, does anyone here recommend this or any other leg/knee braces for dogs? I've got a 78 pound pitbull by the way.

I also saw this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Kruuse-Rehab-Left-Protector-Large/dp/B00Z0U9VA0/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1452655305&sr=8-1&keywords=dog+knee+brace
But it has some bad reviews and the shipping says it apparently wouldn't arrive until the end of february

There's not really any evidence that a brace works better than restricting activity coupled with physical therapy.

Here's a great guide for his recovery: http://www.seespotrunrehab.com/canine-cruciate-ligament-injuries/

Thanks for the info.

>Start active range of motion (AROM) exercises
Does anyone know what Active Range of Motion Exercises are? I know passive ones but not active.

I assume it means exercises that the dog does, rather than me just flexing his legs for him. Something like this:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SgI8pbTQL6M

Also that link says 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off, 5 minutes on with ice. I know for people you generally want to ice an injury for at most 20...

Some people sell domesticatedish ones I guess. You would need a huge aviary and lots of ways to keep it entertained so it doesn't get bored out of its mind. They're also pretty loud

i have an apartment, but i wouldn't want to lock him in or something. i live near enought that place that he would find home easily. i just want to find one that comes to me freely when he feels like it...

Had 4 ferrets die last year, 3 were put to sleep. I wasn't able to be with any of them during euthanasia, but I'm not sure I would have wanted to.

When my cats pass away I'll probably have a mental breakdown and become the next person on Hoarders with a house packed with cats and freezers full of cat corpses. I mean, I'll be really sad.

Train it and use treats for 5min, walk it for 20min, do this every day, and it'll be fine, as long as it's a medium to small sized dog.

Hey /an/ I just picked up this one year old cat from the pound and she has this in the corner of her left eye, what gives? They gave me some antibiotics and told me it should clear up and it to a common cold to a human.

We had a cat that had an infected tearduct. Mucus and other nasty shit would build up in the corner of his eye. Only way they told us it could be fixed was to basically drill a new duct.

Anyway, that's what it sort of looks like, is a problem with her tearduct.
